Humble Christmas Crafts

I know I'm not the only one that likes to make crafts that aren't necessarily quilts. No matter how humble they turn out I get so much joy from making them and I love revisiting them every holiday. I generally make crafts as gifts then proceed to make me one or more too!

Does anybody else make stockings for decorations? These are too small to hold anything but just hang there and look pretty.

I love working with wool. I made several versions of these last year.

I've even tried my hand at German paper cutting! These are hand sewn down the centers and lay flat for storing.

Before quilting I was a cross stitcher.

My sister made this for me and it holds center stage at my house during the holidays!!
I am working on a quilt for a quilt shop sample. Yikes! It is more difficult then it should be.
I hope you all are enjoying the holiday season.

  1. Lovely post!
I love the wool stockings and the paper cut trees, they are spectacular. Where would someone get the pattern? The cupcakers would love this project.

  2. Love the stockings. I was also a x-stitcher before quilting and did that same sampler. I still love it. I'll have to take a pic and show you where I have it hanging.

  10. Your Christmas decorations are all lovely.
Isn't it nice that there are small projects we can try that don't take days and weeks to finish? The wool ornament, the cross stitching, those adorable stockings, the fancy paper cutting -- all such unique decorations.

  18. I think we all have that 'bug' to try our hand at all the crafts - some we stick with and others go by the wayside. Love your little stockings. I made a bunch last year to wrap gifts in - this year they are acting as valances in the family room *s*

  19. I enjoyed seeing your crafty Christmas items. I tried my hand at the paper cutting a few years ago. I had one of the paper trees. I had forgotten about it. It should be in a drawer in the quilt cabinet but I can't get down to look for it. I will enjoy yours instead.

I made several stockings last year and not a one this year. They make good gift holders, even some of the small ones. Something to keep instead of wrapping paper to throw away.
