Land of the Free

I finally got back to these wonderful blocks! I had the eagle done and finished the wreath this week.

I've been working hard in the evenings trying to get Cheddar Cheese and Crackers quilted. I am quilting it like the original (maybe a wee bit tipsy looking) and the lines are 3/4" apart! It's a darn good thing the quiltlet isn't any larger. I'm almost ready to start on the cheddar squares. I was hoping to get it quilted before the weekend but I don't think it is going to happen.

I've put away my Dear Jane quilt for now but I made a little progress on the triangles so that is good.
As soon as I'm done with CC&C I'll be back to my Vicksburg BOM. The leaves are left and they should go pretty fast.

So, that's what I've been up to this week. Since it's down to the final 2 games I may have to watch some football this weekend so I can look a little smart for our Superbowl party! LOL

Have a great week!

  1. The applique looks good. I have been doing applique daily with the baskets. I bet you get done first.

  2. Lori, these blocks are lovely! I especially like the way you used the fabric in the wreath flowers. Gwendie

  3. The applique looks fantastic. I'm just starting to get back into quilting again, and start an applique quilt. And finally, finally, start on my Dear Jane Quilt. That is going to be a real adventure!

  4. Your applique is wonderful. I'll be back to see your finished Cheese and Crackers. I'm guessing it will be gorgeous and I'll kick myself for not having it done!

  5. Your applique blocks look beautiful. I can't wait to see your CC&C when it is quilted :0)

  6. Beautiful blocks Lori...just beautiful. You do such a good job.

  7. That does look fabulous. The eagle is a nice pattern. Of course I love the colours.

  8. Your blocks look great. I used that eagle pattern in 2000, it one of my favorites!
I'm so impressed you're hand quilting the cheddar and crackers - I can't wait to see it.

  9. I just love your work!! Can't wait to see CC&C quilted. :) Christine

  10. Lori, Your applique looks wonderful. I love traditional quilts of all descriptions. I am a very beginner with Dear Jane with only one block started. I guess we all have to start somewhere!

  11. beautiful blocks
    love the eagle especially!
can't wait to see your quilt all quilted, isnt it amazing how much texture the hand quilting gives these little quilts?

  12. I see you did some work on "Land of the Free". I spotted mine in the sewing room this week and wished I could sit at the machine & work on them. I think I will be able to soon. I like your fabric choices.

  13. Lori,

I finished Cheddar Cheese & Crackers and love how it turned out! I posted a picture of it on my blog if you'd like to see. Thanks again!
