Roll Roll Cotton Boll

I finally got the binding on  Roll Roll Cotton Boll, the mystery quilt of Bonnie Hunter's from last November. I had Kathy, my machine quilter to do an all over quilt pattern, since it wasn't going to be the focus of this quilt . It is on my bed right now and I love it. Can you believe this is the largest quilt I've ever made?! Yep, the little doll quilts sure have appeal, but it is fun to have a big one!!

I had purchased a panel with the coffee "blocks" some time ago. I needed lots of coffee to keep up with Bonnie on this one so I thought it was appropriate to put them on the back.
Carol put a call out for patriotic pillowcases. Can you believe I've never made a pillowcase before today? Here are the two I'm sending. That was a lot of fun and didn't take a huge amount of time. Maybe you'd like to help?

Linda, at Quilts in the Barn is collecting signature blocks for a raffle quilt. All the money raised will be donated to Breast Cancer Research. I made mine today but forgot to take a photo. Linda and her friends raised over $10,000 last year for this cause! So many "small" things can turn into something huge! Check it out if you would like to make a signature block.

If you'd like to see what I did on Mother's Day check out my other blog! I had a blast!!

  2. I really love the RRCB quilt! I have seen a lot of them on various blogs and wish I could have made it, but too many other things going on. The pillowcases are very pretty and patriotic! The polka dots made a good border too.

  3. Your RRCB quilt looks sooo good. I still need to sew my RRCB blocks into a top. They went into a pile for me to "work on later" but I think I will have to get going on them soon.

  4. Congrats on finishing the quilt, the pillowcases and the run. Good for you! I ran a little in my 20's, but even then could feel it in my knees. No more for me, but I love to walk. I can see RRCB looking great on a bed. Yours is beautiful! Those pillowcases are on my list of things to do. Might have to buy some fabric for them. Also for the Jo Morton blocks. I couldn't find fabric in my stash that I was sure was JM.

  8. Yea for you!! I am right behind you. I must say that without seeing your pictures and others, I would not have tackled this quilt. And mine is not as big as yours. Isn't it really pretty in person?? Great job!!

  14. I absolutely love RRCB - I am going to have to make one for myself one of these days. I have never made a pillowcase either! I have my fabric picked out - just need to put them together - such a great cause.

  15. I still have to put the border on my RRCB...am holding off until my guild's retreat in June so I will have plenty of space to work. This is a really large quilt! Yours came out beautiful! (not sure there is enough coffee in America for me to keep up with Bonnie!)

  16. Wow it looks gorgeous and big. I didn't need a big quilt, I'm impressed that you stuck to it.

  18. Lori it is so beautiful. My top is finished but not sure when I can get it quilted. I know what you mean about the coffee. It was tough keeping up with Bonnie. Hugs

  19. I love your big quilt. The small ones are great for fast satisfaction and changing them out in decorating but everyone needs some big quilts to snuggle under. Smart move to use the panel on the back. I was just examining my stash last night and decided I would do some pieced backs to use up some of the more "unique" fabrics I own.

  20. Your RRCB is gorgeous! How fun to have the coffee panels on the back--and exciting you're going on Bonnie's cruise as her assistant!

I also volunteered to make two pillowcases. I've made shams and pillows but never any pillowcases either!

  23. I'm surprised you've never made a quilt this size before. It's what all the classes did when I was learning! Back then, no one did doll quilts. Amazing, looking back on it.

  24. Just finished telling Wendy at Snippets of a Quilter that you are both so much farther ahead of me. I did cut it out and even started some blocks. Don't think there is enough coffee in the world to keep up with Bonnie, though. Congrats on such a wonderful finish!

  25. The 2nd blog today with a Roll Cotton Boll quilt on it. Makes me want to go to the sewing room and sew and sew so I can have one too. A very good scrappy quilt. The border is wonderful and adds so much to the design.

  32. With your beautiful finish and the others I'm seeing here and there, I know the RRCB quilt would be well worth the time, if I just get myself started on it. And seeing the coffee blocks on the back confirms my option 200%. It's a stunner, front to back.
Patriotic pillowcases on my to-do list -- soon. I just have to pick out the fabric from my patriotic stash.
