Not a Cowboy Quilt

The cowboy quilt got nixed for my Jubilee Quilt. It's been hanging on my design wall, and you know what? I'm not a designer. The darn center could have sat there until I was jubilee X2 and would never have made it into a quilt. So I thought I'd jump in with two feet.
The worse thing that could happen is that it turns out funky, weird, dumb, unbalanced. Hey! It wouldn't be the first time for me, or the first time in history.
Playing around with a basket in the corner. My spiky border is so short now! I'm considering putting the spikes on one or two sides and the zig zag (that I made some time ago) on the other borders.
Definitely going to need something more in this corner. But this is staying. I'll just keep adding stuff. lol
My initials and the date will go somewhere, just don't know where yet.

Have a fantastic weekend! I must get the borders on the cowboy quilts!!

  11. it's interesting, once you start getting your hands back on a project and moving things around on the design wall it begins to communicate with you and parts of the design just seem to find their place . . . it's coming together beautifully~!
it's good to see it again and i too love the bold signature you have planned.

wishing you some sunshine for your weekend.

  16. Love the colors, such a striking quilt. I know you didn't ask for suggestions, but what if you shortened the stems on the flowers in the corner and added two more fern fronds. I'd also suggest that you stick with an odd number of things in the vase. Just for balance. Good luck. I know how frustrating it can be to get stuck. And, enjoy the cowboy quilts. I bought another cowboy fabric this weekend in a grab bag and thought of you. Lane

  18. It is beautiful and I think the spiky border looks great out there. I love what you are doing in the corner. Yes, it will benefit from some additions, but what you have there is lovely!
I think that is a great style for the lettering, wherever you end up putting it.
You only have to please yourself with this quilt, but I will say it sure looks pleasing to me, too!

  19. Its looking great. I think sometimes the fear of things not turning out perfect makes me procrastinate in the design process. I am itching to have the time to just work on something with no real plan and just let the quilt take me where it wants to go. I love both of your borders and can't wait to see where this quilt takes you.

  20. I think it is going to be absolutely beautifufl when you are done. Just keep doing what pleases your eye. You can't go wrong.
Red and Green quilts were show quilts originally. Don't be afraid, the quilt will tell you what it wants, just listen to your heart and intuition. That is how my quilts and other projects speak to me.

  23. I agree with everyone ahead of me who assured you that you indeed ARE a designer. You'll be putting the parts together just as you want them, at your pace, removing and adding, moving and deleting. It's going to be a fun design process for you, and we'll enjoy watching over your shoulder.

  24. I know you say you are not a designer but you have nailed this one, Lori. The green triangles surrounding the center is what it needed. Gives the piece a vibrant look. The appliques pick up the colors from the center. It will be a very good quilt.

  29. I love it Lori!! Love the colours, love the basket and flower and leaves, love it all!! Great work!!

  30. WOW!! It says Jubilee to me. I think the more you add to it--the more fun this design is going to be. The green setting triangles just jump out and grab the eye. The middle is just such a neat idea!! The fronds will add a great texture to the design. If it gets too be too wonky--it will be even better!!

  33. I think you're being to hard on yourself. I'm loving your flower pot corners, it's all looking good to me. I hope you'll continue with it. Maybe put it away for a week and then get it back out and get a fresh look. As I said, I really like it!

  36. Don't get too overwhelmed, the quilt will grow at its own pace, so far it's looking wonderful!!! Here Downunder there is a song where in the chorus it says "From little things, big things grow...",
