Medallion Sew-a-long

Some time ago Randy at Barrister's Block Blog and I wanted to collaborate on a quilt together and share them on our blog. Here it is!
Don't let the applique scare you. We've done a tutorial to make it easy for you. Mine is done all by machine.
The plan was to share the center pattern with you today, but I got in late last night from Seattle and this was all I had the time to post. Be sure to check out Randy's wonderful quilt, choose your fabric, and get ready for the pattern and directions tomorrow.

What do you think? Will you join us?

  3. Beautiful! What a fun project...it is tempting to start something else right now, but I better just cheer from the sidelines.

    In stitches,

  7. Lori, yours looks great!!! I don't know how to get mine to look quite so LARGE...Maybe that's better so you can't see the appliqué!!

  17. You know I love a good start, but I just started the Sacawagia sampler with my gal pal here. I might ump in when I see the size, but if not, you know I'll be cheering on all the others and will be feeling left out when I see the great pieces that are shown.

  24. I have no will power! I just posted on my blog a big list of all my new summer [coming year] projects! And I swore I woruldn't sew along this time. :-(
BUT of course two hours after I saw the red version I was hauling out bins of fabric, looking for a bright red to use for the bright version. And I know I won t do machine applique because I like to sew while I sit on the beach i=under my umbrella, cooler at my side. Tho I *might* paperpiece the triangles as that is fast and accurate.

    Or....

Maybe...it could be fun to do a HQT QST swap somehow? You d have to designate for bright or traditional/ prim.....

    looks fun! Thanks!

  25. Very beautiful quilts. I love both versions. Right now I am 18,000 miles away from my machine and stash, so I hope you will keep the instructions posted for a long time since I don't get back for another 20 days. Thanks.

  26. But applique does scare me--whether by hand or machine. I'll enjoy spectator status for this SAL. : )
