Antique Bed Turning

I made a quick trip to Seattle but decided to leave a little early and stop by the NW Quilt Expo in Portland. One of the highlights was the antique quilt bed turning by Latimer Quilt & Textile Center in Tillamook, Oregon.










These great quilts need very few words. I hope you enjoyed them!

    Loved all the quilts but in particular the red & green quilt. I noticed that the buttonhole stitch was applied "backwards" to my way of doing. Wonder why she did that and wonder why I never thought of that? It really accented the applique! Lovely!!

      Hi Susie, I've seen that many times with antique quilts. Not sure why it was done that way, but it is so fun to see!

    The blue and white quilt strikes my fancy. And the quilt underneath it......I recently purchased a book with instructions on how to make that type of applique quilt.

    What gorgeous quilts!! I love the green print used in that fabulous red and green applique - too bad about the red print - what a work of art! Thanks for sharing your pictures!

    I love a good Bed Turning. Glad you took the time to go to the Expo in Portland. I've thought of doing it at our FAIR. How to arrange that is the question???

    Just beautiful Lori! I especially LOVE the applique quilts. I also can't get over the number of different and "Kansas Troubles - like" colors that are used in the pieced quilts. My they are amazingly beautiful. Thanks for sharing.

    Hmmm....... I have a quilting aunt who lives in Tillamook - I wonder if she was there to enjoy seeing those beautiful quilts? Thanks for all the photos.

    Bed turning has always been a must see when I am at a show. I just love seeing the colors, and the patterns, and the variations that you see in antique quilts.

    Absolutely fabulous! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, the blue and white quilt!!! And the others are inspiration - Might have to make some reproductions!!

    Oh yes, I did enjoy the pictures!! On the first picture, the colours are so vibrant. Amazing! But the third picture is intriguing me. Is it one quilt I am looking at? The middle is made of 9 Patch then a large border with lovely quilting and ... another border in pink? All those are one quilt? Just love that pink fabric. GORGEOUS!! I might have drool a little bit on the last quilt, sorry. :)

    Beautiful quilts! I ve never heard of a ''bed turning''...but it seems a great way to show off a lot of quilts w/out having the space to hang them. My fave is the second photo, the stars on the black calico ground, so prim and lovely,

    I love bed turnings, but usually seem to miss them. Didn't make it to the Expo. Thought about it, but had other things come up.

    Thanks for sharing the eye candy! No matter how long I am quilting , the antique quilts will always be my favorite, and I know you know which one was my favorite... did you take that picture of the blue and white, just for me? Enjoyed seeing the quilting of a feather at the junctions and the crosshatching behind it.. lovely! Barn Quilt Trail map / brochure from Tillamook? What a nag, I am! LOL
