Gee's Bend Quiltmakers

Some of the quilters from Gee's Bend, Alabama were at the quilt show this year. This was their third visit during quilt show week and they are wonderful and joyous women.  If you do not know about the Gee's Bend Quilts or quilt makers then read this link HERE. (It is a good link even if you know who they are)

Here were some of their improvisational quilts. Modern
 Traditional
 Utility
Graphic
 Humble

A little of "all of the above descriptions"

Postal Shirt Quilt

I don't see anything wrong with this. I have a few that look pretty similar.

I ran into them several times on quilt show day and spoke with them. but did NOT take a photo. (I sure thought I did) This one is borrowed from Sisters Outdoor Quiltshow facebook page.

It is a fun experience to say you've seen their quilts and met these ladies.

I hope you enjoy them too!

  2. I was in a workshop with these ladies at QuiltCon. I had them sign the piece I was working on which was made out of old clothes. They dug my piece.

  7. I love the style and the utility quilts are what I love to do.
I have been collecting jeans and heavier material from clothes, so time to make one.
