Country Roads Mystery Quiltalong

While prepping photos for this post I decided to change the name from Country Lanes to Country Roads. Keep reading and you'll see why.

Go ahead and play the video while you are scrolling through. There isn't too much reading to do.
Here's the fabric I used for the quilt, which will finish about 23x23.
Seems my running brings me to many country roads..... In the mountains

On the coast next to the ocean.
To little roads (turned paths) in the city.
 Back to the forests.

 Around lakes.
 In New Hampshire...
 And North Carolina......
Lotsa' Country roads waiting to be explored! I plan on exploring more in Paris, Alsace and Iceland next week!
Here's what you'll need for the quiltalong. (the measurements are not precise but will give you enough. You can always use 2 strips of varying lengths)
A variety of blues- you won't need much so dig into your strip or scrap bin. You'll only need 1 strip 1 1/2" x 15" of 9 different blues.
Just a little red too. You'll need 1 strip  1 1/2"x 12 1/2" of 9 different reds. I used one of these for my binding too, but you can wait on that.

The photo makes these look blue, but they are various shades of black. You'll need 1 strip
1 1/2"x 10 1/2"  of 9 different blacks.

To make a small scrap quilt interesting it is nice to vary to prints, some calico, some larger, some geometric. Don't overthink it.
For those of you on my facebook group you may have seen the cheddary gold amoeba fabric.
This particular photo looks a little washed out. Refer back to the top photo on this post to see a better color rendition. You'll need about 1 fat quarter of this cheddar/gold fabric.

My instagram feed this week.

That's it for now! You'll have the weekend to gather your goods. Monday I'll post the first step. I will be flying into Paris Monday afternoon, so I won't be able to  answer any questions promptly.

Take care and have a wonderful weekend.

  16. Lovely collection of Country road photos--and the perfect song to go with them.
You certainly are the traveler! Enjoy Paris.
Shouldn't be hard at all to come up with the fabrics for this little SAL. Hope I do a better job on this one than I did on Cascadia. I pulled scraps for that and never got it made. : )

  21. I love your roads photos! And QAL sounds fun tho I don't have ANY black calico, it s so hard to find.

My ancestors were mostly from Alsace, how fun for you to see what I understand is a beautiful area.

I planned to send my Bolivia dresses on Monday, is that still ok? Someone at home to get the mail while you re gone?

  23. Thanks for taking us on your run, it is beautiful. The fabrics are also looking good, will have to see what I can put together. 9 blacks will be the trickiest but with some of the layer cakes I have I'm hoping it will work out. Have the best trip ever and enjoy some wonderful wines!

  24. Oops. Layer cakes won't work! I had more blacks than I thought though so on to picking blues and reds.
