February

Wow! Here it is February already!! I have so many fun events planned for 2016 that it's hard to not rush!
We have hired a new employee and that is a good thing. I hope he learns fast and works well into our small business.

Here's a little stuffed pillow I made for a lovely girl who lost her dad after a valiant fight with a heart transplant. It was a free project at Wooden Spools Design- click HERE to see Debbie's blog post and get the pattern.
I got some ideas from my Facebook group. (which now has 700+ members! I'm humbled for sure!)
I'm not a fan of poly stuffing. This is what I used.
I'm working on lots of binding which makes for a boring blog post. Here is my completed High Desert Baskets, where my creative photo skills flopped!
That's better. The binding is not the same print. Remember when I made the binding ahead of time? My quilts were at the quilters and I didn't look to see what the outer triangle prints were. Just one more step in my humble quilt philosophy.
One more binding. I love this binding with this quilt!! I'll show you the completed quilt later this week.
One more binding attached, still to be hand sewn.

Have a wonderful week!

  1. What a sweet gift. I'm sure she will cherish it. Great work on the bindings. Most of my friends hate the binding process, but I find it quite relaxing.

  3. The pillow turned out so sweet and I'm sure the recipient will treasure it. As for your bindings, GREAT JOB! I love that the binding is close but not the exact same fabric as the outer triangles on your High Desert Baskets quilt. All three quilts are going to be fabulous!

  6. I love the binding being slightly different than the outer triangles! Looks like it was planned that way. And thanks for the idea of something to get a grieving friend. Cute button flower too! You are full of ideas for me...Thanks!

  8. I had not seen the freebie heart design. Just printed it out. Your gift made from this design is so very thoughtful. I need to order white wool before I can make it unless I find a scrap (and that is possible).

  13. Sweet little heart for a thoughtful gift!

I love the red-multi print you're using for the last binding; it's one of my favorites, and I wish I had yards and yards of it instead of just yards. I've got lots of binding in my near future too.

  14. I think we shared that red fabric you used for binding the last quilt--remember when you got some amazing deals on fabric at a warehouse sale a few years ago?? I am still using the fabrics and recently used the red as well! Can't wait to see what you're hiding!!

  15. I love that last binding fabric. It's so amazing. Also, the setting triangle fabric on the one I quilted, very nice. I need to step out when it comes to my shifting prints and get a few of these darker ones, they really helped pop the colors on your quilt. Sweet pillow

  16. I dont think binding is boring, I love it! I love knowing you are nearly finished another quilt. I love being able to hand stitch and still interact with the family - its my version of knitting I can do it without thinking. And best of all while I am hand stitching binding I can dream about the next quilt I want to make!

  17. Yay on the new employee! Sweet pillow for a precious gift. Love the button flowers! I had no idea there was cotton stuffing like that! Much better than the poly stuff. Binding is the best part of quilting, means a finished quilt is near!

  24. Boring is a word I'd never use to describe any of your projects and sewing, Lori.
You've been on a binding binge! Your High Desert Baskets quilts is outstanding. Love seeing the two groups of blocks joined together with all those shirtings.
