Aurora Quilt Show- Crazy Quilts!

Crazy About Aurora was this years theme for my favorite quilt show and I've never seen so many in one place before!!

This one was made in the 40's and the quilting is done by machine and so fun to see!
A big jumble of craziness fun!!
I thought the lower left block was adorable. "Let me just make this last blocks with strips!"
Enjoy the show!

Oh that fabric on the left! And that stitching!!! WOW!

I thought the cross stitch blocks were an interesting addition.

Let's have a great week!

  1. At first glance I thought those cross-stitch blocks were pieces salvaged from an old jacquard coverlet. Amazing stitchery in these. I always love your posts about the Aurora Quilt Show, especially now that we're not in Oregon. Have you ever been to the Zion Mennonite Church's annual show? It is generally late in February each year, another amazing with lots of antique and beautifully made quilts as well as a few more modern-day ones.

  4. Lori,
    The big question is:
Are you going to make one??
    Even a small one?

  6. When old is new and new is old could describe the first quilt. Except for the fabric, it makes me think of modern "slab" blocks. Thanks for sharing these great quilts, Lori.

  7. The embroidered classic crazies have amazing and beautiful embroidery. But somehow it's the more humble, yet very fabulous cotton crazy quilt that I love. I do wonder how all those tiny bits were pieced. By hand, turning in a seam allowance? On to paper backings, by machine. Exceptional.
