Happy Houses

All the cute house quilts reminded me of this fun quilt I started in class with Tonye  at a class in Sisters in 2010!

I had forgotten I had some of the blocks together.

Tonye had the house patterns- aren't they charming?

I made a few of these as single quilts for Ami Simm's Alzheimer's Art Quilt Initiative. They are such a joy to make! Mine are hand appliqued.

A photo of the completed quilt is all we had to make the top.  I guess that is the reason I haven't gotten any farther. I have 8 more years of quilting experience since this class,  so I should get back to it!

I hope you are enjoying your summer.  More adventures for me this week!

  1. Such a fun, whimsical quilt, Lori! Your blocks look great! Will you continue to do them with hand applique, or is there no time for that in your life right now?

  2. Fun quilt, Lori! I'm used to seeing your quilts using more traditional and reproduction fabrics so it's fun to see one with more modern fabrics. You are a very versatile quilter. I hope you get to finish this one soon.

  3. I've always loved that house quilt and wished I could get the pattern. I especially like the ones on the hill and how she made them all into one big house!

  8. These are so cute and imaginative. I don't think the quilt actually needs the big house setting [tho it's cute and different], they d be fine in a regular sashed set. I picture this as a child's quilt. It would be so fun to make up bedtime stories about ''who lives in each house '', ''are they the same people or do they move/ change'', ''do they stay in the quilt or sneak out at night???'' So much fun. Get busy!

  14. My favorite is the block with the houses on the hill. They look like they could tip over with a big wind.
