That doesn't look like Strawberry Fields!! Well, I really didn't want the back of a small block to be what you see first so I added this striking quilt. It was at the bed turning.
I made all of the square in a square sections first, but I see many of you making the whole block, which is great. For those who want to move forward I thought I'd let you know what I did as far as pressing. There didn't seem to be any good way to press the seam of the center square.
Thanks, Lori,
ReplyDeleteI showed my cheddar and cheese to guild last night and they loved it. One "expert" in antiques thought the pattern was "Tennessee Road".
I have a few blocks done and LOVE them. It is funny how we automatically put them together...
THANK YOU for blessing us with this. I am sure enjoying it!
Lucy~
BEAUTIFUL PHOTOS! WOW! I feel so at home when I look at them! so nice. GORGEOUS QUILT~ I must come back later, busy time of day here, but I'll be back tonite when I have time to sit and read and enjoy.
ReplyDeleteThanks for coming by to visit ME!~
Your sight is so full of interesting things to me and I can see I will learn MUCH from you.
Oh, and I need to loose 50 lb.s! yes.. so... more on that later.
P.S.
ReplyDeleteI only mention the weight because I see you are Weight Watchers..
As you know, I live on an island and am isolated, so food shopping is difficult and going to meetings is OUT! We'll talk .
I am a covered bridge fan big time. We like to find them when we are traveling around the country. Have seen many, many of them.
ReplyDeleteHi Lori! Thanks for "taking us down to Strawberry Fields!" Your directions are so clear. I have made 5-6 blocks and just realized that I have some antique fabric stored away that I can use, as you did. I have a question for you: What kind of batting do you use? For doll quilts and for bed quilts? Hand-quilted, of course.
ReplyDeletethanks, Anne
I can't wait to see more of your antique quilt pictures!! I love the pretty white covered bridge.
ReplyDeleteI arrived here via the link on Ann Champion's blog. I've never done a quilt-a-long, but I'm excited to try one. This is such a cute pattern, and it'll be fun to see all the different quilts -- I am using quilt pieces from an antique top.
ReplyDeletei love the leading quilt photo -
ReplyDeletelove the pretty bridge photos.
What an incredible quilt! Love the bridge!
ReplyDeleteLovely quilt. Wish I had time to play along. As far as the seams in the back, check out Jo Morton's method. It is easy and really makes it look nice. Your way is fine, too.
ReplyDeleteI love the quilt from the bed turning! It's so rich looking.
ReplyDeleteWhen making the little blocks I pressed the seams towards the solid pieces. Those little blocks are fun.
Thanks for sharing your pics. I love covered bridges. :)
Hi Lori! Wonderful quilt. I am working on my blocks for the quiltalong and you can see the start on my blog now. I have to take a break from them as we have a long holiday weekend here in Holland. It is Queen's Day tomorrow so we are off to Cranberry Cottage. I don't want to take a sewing machine so it will be all hand quilting and stitching for the weekend. Having great fun making the blocks...thanks.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!
Hugs from Holland ~
Heidi
