That doesn't look like Strawberry Fields!! Well, I really didn't want the back of a small block to be what you see first so I added this striking quilt. It was at the bed turning.I made all of the square in a square sections first, but I see many of you making the whole block, which is great. For those who want to move forward I thought I'd let you know what I did as far as pressing. There didn't seem to be any good way to press the seam of the center square.
So I clipped my seam, and practiced, either ironing it open or to the plain square. Clipping and ironing to the plain square was what I found to be the best for a nice flat block. I have a suggestion for the half blocks so you may want to wait before assembling them.

ReplyDeleteI showed my cheddar and cheese to guild last night and they loved it. One "expert" in antiques thought the pattern was "Tennessee Road".
I have a few blocks done and LOVE them. It is funny how we automatically put them together...

I have made 5-6 blocks and just realized that I have some antique fabric stored away that I can use, as you did. I have a question for you: What kind of batting do you use? For doll quilts and for bed quilts? Hand-quilted, of course.

Hi Lori! Wonderful quilt. I am working on my blocks for the quiltalong and you can see the start on my blog now. I have to take a break from them as we have a long holiday weekend here in Holland. It is Queen's Day tomorrow so we are off to Cranberry Cottage. I don't want to take a sewing machine so it will be all hand quilting and stitching for the weekend. Having great fun making the blocks...thanks.
