As a longarm quilter, I do appreciate modern as most are the perfect canvas for some wonderful stitching designs. The evolution of quilting in our lifetime has been amazing! It is sad so many shops are going to modern and fewer shops have repros, especially here in California. Thank goodness we have the internet! I was able to buy some FQs at their sale at the high school, however. I guess they were getting rid of it as it was reduced. Thanks for putting my quilt on your blog! Today I found a bunch of reproduction FQs at a garage sale for $.50! What I'm finding troubling is that so many of the quilt shops are switching their merchandise to only carry the modern prints. "Am I in the right place?" : )
There is a little shop a couple of hours from my home that I rarely get to--once every year or two (It just isn't on the way to anywhere else I go). It used to have a nice blend of traditional and modern, with a very cozy atmosphere. The last time I crossed the threshold I had a "where am I?" moment. It was totally modern inside. Not a scrap of traditional fabric or quilting. I can appreciate that there are different styles and tastes in the quilting world, and there are modern quilts that are very striking and pleasing to me. But it is not what I make and I wished I'd had some warning that this shop had lost its balance. Would have saved myself the trip.
Were there traditional quilts anywhere in the show, other than the antique quilts vendor?Janet O.https://www.blogger.com/profile/05083607398709252597noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7554378824181841688.post-36807745006349526222013-07-19T06:55:17.140-07:002013-07-19T06:55:17.140-07:00I'm with Thimbleanna!!
