Heritage Stars Quilt

 Since I put this in my header this month, I've received more questions about it. I call mine Heritage Stars.
 I made it after seeing this wonderful antique quilt from New Jersey. If you want the directions of how I did it you can find them HERE.


I got these photos this week from Donna who used my directions but made her zig zags scrappy. 


I love it! Thanks for sharing it with us, Donna!

  2. I love that antique quilt. I started a version of my own but my stars are still in a pile on my cutting table. Perhaps that is a good thing...Donna's scrappy version looks intriguing.

  5. I like your version of the antique quilt as the colors are brighter. But then, the antique quilt probably was at some time too. I can see you are having a good time in North Carolina. You can see why we visit the Blue Ridge Mtns. every year.

  6. Thank you for the fun quilt show! I always love looking at quilts made with the same pattern, yet interpreted in such variety by the quilter and her choice of fabrics and placement. A lovely quilt in all examples!

  7. You did a lovely job reproducing this quilt. I enjoy seeing alternate versions of quilts. The scrappy blue/brown zigzags bring a whole different look to the table (or the bed). : )

  8. Bubblegum pink and poison green-I love that combo in antique quilts and all the different color stars fit in. Beautiful :)

  11. Beautiful quilts! One of my favorite things is seeing the same patterns in different colors. It really helps open my creative mind up and remind me that the colors you see in a pattern aren't the ones you have to use!

  16. As you know, I made one too! I saw the antique quilt in a book, "New Jersey Quilts, 1777-1950" and had some blocks (basket blocks) that I wanted to use and my quilt has 110 blocks as the original quilt in the book has. My version and a matching doll quilt will be in a quilt show soon in Hampton, VA. Thanks Lori for showing another beautiful version. Donna did a great job. I really like this quilt as your header.

As I said in my email to you that your quilt was my inspiration and I had it bookmarked from your blog since you first posted it in May of 2011. I have seen Judy Hansens in person at the Dear Jane Retreat in Nov last year and it's a beauty!

  18. Beautiful quilts, both the original and yours and Donna's reproductions. I love sawtooth stars and am participating in "Stars in a Time Warp" mentioned above. I love that zig zaggy setting and will have to remember this!

  21. I absolutely love this quilt! I first saw a reproduction of this at a quilt show in Sydney , Australia and immediately fell in lust with it, lol!!! Yours is beautiful, I too may be inspired to make one myself.

  23. The variations in color are so much fun to see. I do love that setting and I like the consistent zigzag colors, make the zig zag really pop.
