Like another large quilt that took me 10+ years to hand quilt, I'm right on track for this quilt!
I'm decided to start only looking at one block at a time.
I'm using my hera marker with lines 1 1/2" apart. I am not cross hatching through the motifs.
This is the block I'm working on. It is still such a charming quilt with lots of personality. (check out the branch, not quite reaching the main stem- the original was this way)
Here's a completed block.
I'm glad I didn't put a date on this block! This quilt is 100"x100"! It's a doozy!
Make it an awesome week!
Such a beautiful quilt. I was looking at the hand quilting on my current couch quilt and thinking that I miss that stitching process. I need to see what hand quilting projects I have in my closet that might move into the making rotation for the evenings when I don’t want to knit.
ReplyDeleteLori un colcha tan bonita.....
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful quilt. Love the fabric especially the greens!!!
ReplyDeleteIt is just gorgeous! I love the yellow basket of cherries!
ReplyDeleteThe quilting is so very beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI love this quilt and your gorgeous version of it.
So beautiful! Both the applique and the quilting
ReplyDeleteI love how you photographed your quilt. It really shows up your hand quilting. It is a beautiful quilt. Hugs
ReplyDeleteI wish my quilt was this far along.
ReplyDeleteQuite a project...it will be gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteIt's such a beautiful quilt, and so worth all the time and effort involved in the quilting. I've got a project in the hoop that isn't getting quilted very fast. Some days I'm so enthusiastic about sitting and stitching - other days I just don't want to think about it at all. It's all about the progress. . .
ReplyDeleteAwesome! Wish I could do applique and hand quilting like that! ---"Love"
ReplyDeleteI love your quilt, and it is always a treat when you bring it out and show your stitches!! Gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteLove the traditional colors and charm. Go go go!
ReplyDeleteIt is definitely going to be wonderful when done. It's beautiful already. And I'm so glad that I'm not the only person who has hand quilting projects taking years to complete.
ReplyDeleteWow, so beautiful! A block at a time is the only way to approach such a large quilt. Keep it going and it will be finished in no time at all :)
ReplyDeleteExquisite hand quilting and love the quilt. What a treasure!
ReplyDeleteThank you! Sometimes I panic when I see so many folks complete their projects so quickly! Your beautiful quilt is a reminder that we're on a journey -- completed quilts are cause for celebration -- but so is the journey! Hope I am working on something as beautiful as your Beyond the Cherry Tree in 10 years!!
ReplyDeleteIt's such a beautiful quilt!! And timeless, so whenever you finish it it will be fabulous!
ReplyDeleteVery big project!! I have always loved that quilt... one of these days!~
ReplyDeleteNice quilting, Lori!
Your quilting is just lovely and looks especially lovely in that light. This is going to be an amazing quilt xx
ReplyDeleteI love the close-ups of this quilt. I'm cheering for you!
ReplyDeleteThe large quilt currently in my frame has been there for years. Not sure if I can finish it within 10 years or not. :)
Beautiful quilting! I admire your perseverance!
ReplyDelete100 x 100 is definitely a doozy. Still, I'm glad you are hand quilting it -- such fine appliqué deserves it. It is daunting but a bite at the apply every day starts to add up.
ReplyDeleteI am totally in love with this project and your beautiful stitching.
ReplyDeleteI'm remember this beauty, it will be a treasure when finished, courage XXX
ReplyDeleteYour hand quilting stitches are perfect. You are going to have an heirloom. It is really beautiful, thank you for sharing your journey. I'm not quite sure how you are using the Hera, does it leave a line/crease in the fabric?
ReplyDeleteYes, that is exactly what it does.
DeleteYes, that is exactly what it does.
DeleteThis quilt is a stunner! The quilting makes it come alive—magical!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beauty! It will be worth all the time it takes to hand quilt it!
ReplyDeleteI love how you embraced the quirky imperfections and repeated them! This quilt is going to be more than worth the time you've spent on it. You are creating an heirloom. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteLove it Lori. 😁
ReplyDeleteA beautiful top earns to be handquilted it makes it more precious and it brings it closer to you.
ReplyDeleteI have long admired tis quilt.....shall I say "coveted"? Instead of taking advantage of Gay's generosity in offering the patterns at no cost years ago, I just today ordered the complete paper pattern!!! It's a huge splurge, but I'm rationalizing that I have fabrics in my stash and only need to purchase the background.(!) I love applique and hand quilting, most all handwork, and if it takes me years to complete, that's ok!!!
ReplyDeleteCrazy in Tallahassee
Mona!
I love everything about this quilt - the style, the quirks and especially the quilting!
