The Continuing Saga of Beyond the Cherry Tree Quilt

Like another large quilt that took me 10+ years to hand quilt, I'm right on track for this quilt! 
I'm decided to start only looking at one block at a time.

 I'm using my hera marker with lines 1 1/2" apart. I am not cross hatching through the motifs.
 This is the block I'm working on. It is still such a charming quilt with lots of personality. (check out the branch, not quite reaching the main stem- the original was this way) 
Here's a completed block. 

I'm glad I didn't put a date on this block! This quilt is 100"x100"! It's a doozy!

    Such a beautiful quilt. I was looking at the hand quilting on my current couch quilt and thinking that I miss that stitching process. I need to see what hand quilting projects I have in my closet that might move into the making rotation for the evenings when I don’t want to knit.

    It's such a beautiful quilt, and so worth all the time and effort involved in the quilting. I've got a project in the hoop that isn't getting quilted very fast. Some days I'm so enthusiastic about sitting and stitching - other days I just don't want to think about it at all. It's all about the progress. . .

    Wow, so beautiful! A block at a time is the only way to approach such a large quilt. Keep it going and it will be finished in no time at all :)

    Thank you! Sometimes I panic when I see so many folks complete their projects so quickly! Your beautiful quilt is a reminder that we're on a journey -- completed quilts are cause for celebration -- but so is the journey! Hope I am working on something as beautiful as your Beyond the Cherry Tree in 10 years!!

    100 x 100 is definitely a doozy. Still, I'm glad you are hand quilting it -- such fine appliqué deserves it. It is daunting but a bite at the apply every day starts to add up.

    Your hand quilting stitches are perfect. You are going to have an heirloom. It is really beautiful, thank you for sharing your journey. I'm not quite sure how you are using the Hera, does it leave a line/crease in the fabric?

    I have long admired tis quilt.....shall I say "coveted"? Instead of taking advantage of Gay's generosity in offering the patterns at no cost years ago, I just today ordered the complete paper pattern!!! It's a huge splurge, but I'm rationalizing that I have fabrics in my stash and only need to purchase the background.(!) I love applique and hand quilting, most all handwork, and if it takes me years to complete, that's ok!!!
