Mahvelous Monday!

I'm using a few half square triangles for my little swap quilt I'm making.
I have two containers (from lettuce- the best of recycling!)
That I dump, pick what I need, then trim to size. It is super convenient! Do you have hst's waiting to be used in your projects?
Here's my little project. It isn't quite as dark as the photo shows, but I still kind of wish I used a bolder print.
Spent some time working on these crazy star blocks designed by Cheri. I make the arrows so I keep plenty of fabric to the outside  so it is easier to trim to size. It seems to work good for me.

I hope you got a bit of sewing done this weekend. Make it a great week!

  4. I have no luck with those "tiny" 1/2 sq triangles. They get caught under the needle even while using leaders and enders. UGH!

    1. Have you tried using a throat plate with only a small hole and not a horizontal slit? The one with the slit is standard.

  6. I like your process for the star block, and your fabric choice. It reminds me of the old Buggy Barn patterns.

  10. Wonderful little quilt, with some exceptional fabrics used! Are some antiques? I love the spacer fabric, not too dark at all. And...no, no extra triangles here. I sure wish I had a lettuce bin full, tho.

  11. I don't usually save triangle units. I put them in a scrap bag of small pieces I do not want to save and pass them on to a church thrift store. I see you make good use of yours.

  14. Love that little quilt you are creating, Lori. Yes, I keep HSTs on hand and love using them to make little quilts.
That star method looks too complicated for me. :)
Drove past Quiltworks in Bend Friday, and thought of you. Would liked to have stopped to see the show, but had a very tired 3-year-old in the car, so it didn't seem like a good idea.

  15. Yes! I have most of them sorted into size in baggies, but there are a lot that need to be trimmed. There's also a bag of triangles that could be made into HSTs. A project for another day!
