I put a little teaser on the Humble Quilts facebook group and everyone got so excited, so here we go!
I'm using a variety of French General fabrics and the name of the quilt is from the cutest shop we visited in Paris.
Actually I think Sajou is the owners name, but for now it is the title of our little quilt.
I was here with my daughter (taking the photo) and two friends! One is Cecile!
I mentioned awhile before we will be doing a medallion- it's a small one and isn't like most of the little quiltalongs I've done. But that is what is fun with a little quilt- small commitment!!
Time to dig into your stash.
This is my center and I drew colors for the rest of the quilt from this.
Any of these would make a fun center.
These are the bits and pieces I used for mine. The stripe really adds pizzazz so find something similar if you can.
Here are my other pieces of mediums and a wee bit of dark. You don't need much.
Here are the lights I used.
My quilt is only 18" square. You may opt to keep adding borders to make it a wee bit larger though.

ReplyDeleteI think it is nice that you make small quilts to remember places you have been or to commorate time together with friends. Quite a change for you to use the French General fabrics. I am using a lot of French General in my current applique project. A challenge but an interesting stretch for me.

This sounds like fun! And did you know the dictionary defines sajou as 'large monkey' or 'South American monkey.' That shop in Paris looks fascinating, I hope you'll show us more photos as we progress through this quiltalong.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely LOVED that little shop when I was lucky enough to visit. It is brimming with goodness! Looking forward to the sew along. I am thinking I might use black, grey and white. But that could change...LOL

ReplyDeleteHmm, can't decide if I should go with French General, or a collection of red/brown prints I have been saving for a small quilt. I'll have to see if I have the right shades and prints in that basket to meet these requirements.
ReplyDeleteI have a little French General and a layer cake, but I've never sewn with it before. Love the colors though. I may just try this since it's small. That shop looks wonderful!
ReplyDeleteOh, I'm excited too, but I'm not on FB any more. I have a good stash of French General fabrics and a good many scraps from the Ville Fleurie line. (I've made several quilts and runners from that line---simply adore it). Love your fabric choices...I am waiting with bated breath!
