I speak very little French, but had a ball in Italy because it was very similar to Spanish.
Most people in the city (Paris) spoke English, but not in the countryside. My daughter and I went to the European Patchwork Meeting in Alsace and she did most of the translating if we needed it.
So, it was a few years ago and I thought since AI made my little Sajou quilt I'd make a little one for her.
Here's a little bit of a start.
I finished hand quilting this block and moved on the next....
I'm not a fan of hand quilting because I am slow, but I am enjoying working on this.

Is it possible to have a contest to see whose hand quilting is the slowest? LOL I've had a quilt in my hoop for years, but it has aggravated my shoulder and back to do much, so there it sits.
Such pretty hand quilting. And I love the Sajou piece. Je parle un peu francais aussi. But my skills have become pretty rusty - from lack of use now.

ReplyDeleteYour trip looked like a fun adventure, enjoyed seeing the photos. I love to hand quilt, but it is slower and a killer on my fingers, lol. I wish I could do actual quilting without doing one stitch at a time.

ReplyDeleteI always love to see your Beyond the Cherry Tree quilt in your hoop. I'm a big fan of handquilting and yours is looking beautiful!! I love the extra quilted motifs between the crosshatching. Your little Sajou is lovely as well.

I've only hand quilted a few quilts, and you are right, it's sloooooow going. But it always feels worth it in the end. And that thimble fabric is TOO cute!
