I made quite a bit of headway at the quilt retreat on my 1857 Album Quilt. Click HERE for more info. When I got home I counted them and needed 4 more for a 6x7 layout.
I like to applique the body, then trim, then add the corner diamonds.
Here are a few views!
I'm pretty sure when all blocks are complete I'll be asking the facebook group for layout advice.
Porter tried to rearrange them.....
But decided he wanted a nap instead.
My Instagram feed for the week.
Monday I'll have the stringalong linky. Are you ready?! I know many of you made a complete quilt in January. Great job! I'm making x amount of blocks per month so I'll have a good size quilt later this year. I get way too bored working on the same thing,,,same thing,,,same thing. A little a month helps me keep from being bored.
Have an amazing weekend! We have a big snow storm forecasted. What a wintry February!
Oh these blocks are gorgeous! My room is too small for a design wall and I have to use the floor too. I love the Porter arrangement method. Will have to see what he comes up with!
ReplyDeleteYour 1857 blocks look lovely. I sewed the corner leaves on first on a lot of the blocks because they were so easy to do while waiting for each months blocks to be released.
ReplyDeleteNo, I'm not ready for the linky. I've been very busy and we are going to Washington today for the weekend. I might be able to make some on Monday. I just love your quilt blocks and Porter knows it's much better to have something in a little pile to lay on.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilt--love those corner diamonds...they really pull all the blocks together hugs, Julierose
ReplyDeleteLove these blocks and so regret not doing them when they were available for free! I hesitate to buy the pattern because I know I'll probably never get around to it, which is why I didn't do it then. Oh well...
ReplyDeleteThe book arrived and the basket quilt in there IS one I'm going to do, I plan to start prepping baskets this weekend! Enjoy your weekend and your applique!
1857 looks great. I still have one block I need to replace - it just doesn't blend with the rest - a real sore thumb. Good work!
ReplyDeleteThey always think they are helping don't they? My cat used to do that, but now that he's old he just lays on top and has a nap. Beautiful blocks!!
ReplyDeleteI love your blocks and I think the layout looks really good as is. Porter is so funny!
ReplyDeleteWow--this has got to feel good! Looks beautiful!
ReplyDeletePorter obviously feels very connected to your work. :)
The blocks are fabulous. I do like the corner diamonds, that's a great touch for this quilt. Stay warm and safe. I'm watching a big storm come in right now, but I think it will be rain for us.
ReplyDeleteYour 1857 blocks look great! I need to get back to finishing mine. I am about halfway done with the blocks.
ReplyDeleteYour 1857 blocks are beautiful! As for the string-a-long, I'm only making one block per month but they are big ones. I better get going as I'm only 1/4 done with the strings for this month, then I have to put the block together too! Yoi!
ReplyDeleteLots of work resulting in a Beautiful quilt! My dog loves to find a stack of fabric or scraps on the floor so he can “spread” them out...LOL!
ReplyDeleteWow! This is fabulous! Your helper is very sweet.
ReplyDeleteI really love this quilt. Those applique blocks are just yummy. It's one that I actually started downloading back when it was current and then quickly realized that I wouldn't follow through. Yours is looking great!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous blocks, love them,
ReplyDeleteEvery time I see this quilt, I love it more! Bravo on all your lovely progress!
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure Porter loves your stunning quilt ! Ah ah !!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations for this awesome finish ! I love the diamonds at the corners ...perfect details Lori !
Your Album quilt is going to be beautiful! When I first saw the patterns with the diamonds in the corners I wasn't too sure about them, but they really add a lot of charm--love all your blocks!
ReplyDeleteThis is looking lovely Lori. I wish now I hadn't given up on mine, but I have so many things started I doubt I'll get back to it. I should make a wall hanging from the blocks I've made. Have you decided how you'll quilt it?
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful! Porter is such a big help :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful blocks! This will be a wonderful quilt. Porter loves them too! Our Roscoe does this with his blanket to get it just right.
