There is a blog HERE. And a facebook group HERE.
So far the patterns are accurate and well done and for the center sections the fearless leaders are showing and giving a few options to get it accomplished!!
I'm getting a late start so I've only got the bottom border prepped!
I plan on doing my usual machine applique. I'm excited to start the centers.
After many great suggestions I ended up ordering Moda Bella natural. Small shirtings and toile were terrific options, but I was also trying to save money and a solid background saved me considerable. I also had a gift card that I was able to use, so that helped.
This is what I have prepped and ready to applique.
If you join in on the fun let me know!
On another note:
That looks like quite a project but so fun. I love that quilt.
ReplyDeleteWonderful start Lori ! Cheddar is one of my favourite color !
ReplyDeleteEnjoy...
so happy I told you about this!! you will catch up...I have not started one of the beauty blocks yet...mary in austin
ReplyDeleteGreat start! You border is wonderful. I haven’t sewn mine down yet either. For the center, I’m having a friend laser cut the pieces and Will machine piece those spikes. No paper piecing for this gal. It will be fun to follow each other’s and everyone else’s progress. Yes, never forget. USA Strong!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilt. I have NO business starting s big project like this..... but I have a boxful of poison green, Turkey reds, chrome yellow etc. that I think would be perfect. I think I’ll download the patterns and save for a rainy day!!!!!

It will be a beauty, Lori.
ReplyDeleteDo you do your machine applique with monofilament thread?
Would be great to make Lori, but I have to finish BTCT before taking on another large quilt. Your blocks look lovely.
ReplyDeleteThis is such an exciting project! I love your fabric selections - especially the flowers in the second picture far right - gorgeous pink/red. I look forward to seeing your center blocks - I would expect them to be paper pieced but I saw somewhere someone had appliqued.
ReplyDeleteYou've picked bright and cheerful colors. Great idea to machine applique.
ReplyDeletelove your fabric choices...I'm also getting a late start...have the border all cut out and 2 sets of flowers appliqued...actually waiting to see how everyone tackles the NY beauty block....so time we get our borders done we will know what to do with it..LOL
ReplyDeleteLove your flowers, Lori! The fabrics are just the right colors and prints for this quilt along! Have fun!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely a beautiful quilt - hope you enjoy the sew-along.
ReplyDeleteEven from afar, here in Australia, we will never forget, somehow the world seem to change that day. I remember that my husband & I were getting ready for bed, when the horror of that event flashed across our tv screen. We stayed up for hours, in total disbelieve and then unable to sleep.
I just looked at the photos on the blog and there is one with a non-traditional background that is beautiful! Tempted
ReplyDeleteWhat a great start.
ReplyDeleteOhhhhhh so tempted. Will enjoy seeing your progress on this great quilt.
ReplyDeleteThis is a fantastic looking quilt. I can see why you wanted to start this one! Your panels are already looking amazing.:)
ReplyDeleteYour fabric choices are right on, Lori! I am so happy that you are participating in the making of the Buhl quilt.
