1940s Lone Star

One of the last quilts I opened from the estate was this beauty! It has been well loved.

Lovely hand quilting

I'm assuming it is from the 1940's.
The biggest problem with this quilt is the binding is pretty much non existent.  It was the color of the final blue tip. I think I'll see if I have a solid blue similar, replace it and keep this one. At least for awhile.

Have a terrific weekend!

  1. Beautiful, great colors! For awhile I collected Lone Star quilts, this one is a winner.

PS my dad taught me that when repairing binding I should leave the original for its history and add the replacement on top, also adding a brief label w that info/ date of repair. Just passing on hos method, might be bulky tho.

  3. What a beauty! I can see why you would hang on to it. I am a sucker for a Lone Star quilt, though I've never made one, and the colors in this one are so vibrant!
