Kick Off Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show

First, here is my finished pin cushion designed by Primitive Gatherings. Mine is a bit more prim than the pattern, but that's the way it works out sometimes. I've stuffed it with walnut litter (from pet store) and cotton stuffing. I like the weight that that combination gives me.
Here's the first volunteers (me included!) to kick off the festivities for the Sisters Show. I get so much enjoyment from the show every year that volunteering is a small way to pay them back. This year we got shirts!
Here is the wonderful warehouse space that will be filling up soon with quilts from all over. We hung sponsor quilts which you can see in the black bags on the floor.
Quilt intake. This was also the first day to bring in quilts and the quilts that had been mailed were processed as well. Let the fun begin!

The Stitchin' Post was filled to the brim with products for quilt show week. The morning I stopped in was quiet and a perfect time to take a few photos. Enjoy!

The classroom space in the shop is transformed to accommodate all the products they will need for every class they put on the week of the Sisters show. Sue Spargo is coming and look at that great wool/ trims/books and threads in this one area.

More of the transformed classroom space.

And here are my Friday's Market day sew along.

Happy week!

  4. Each year I look forward to the quilt show pictures from Sister's as I know I will never get there myself. You give a different view being a volunteer.
Those robin egg blue yarns look yummy and I am not into making anything with yarn in years and years.

  6. I would love to come Volunteer at Sisters. Thanks for sharing the process. I don't think my body can stand another road trip. I spent a week and over 33 hours driving through Utah last week. I enjoy hanging our September Show.

  7. Your little pincushion looks perfect. Lisa's "Prim" is pretty precise. Nothing wrong with primming it up a bit more! : )
People like you make shows happen. What would they do without volunteers?
Looks like quite a shop. Even if I never get to the show, I may drive through town someday and I'll have to check out this place.
You have kept up with Market Day so well--and looks like both sizes! I'm impressed. (Think I may actually start on it today, but only one size.)

  9. Love your pincushion.....I have that one on my list! I've been in a pincushion mood lately and I use all walnut shells. I'm interested in the stuffing/shell combo. Do you layer it? How do you avoid the heavy shells going to one side and the cotton to the other?

  15. Being a volunteer for such a great show, that would be such a win-win situation. A little shopping time? A little class time? Hopefully you'll be able to fit in some personal quilty fun along with the work you're providing. Enjoy the week, Lori.

  16. I love the colors in your photos. I bought a Primitive Gatherings pincushion kit from their booth at the Chicago show a couple of weeks ago. Yours is inspiring me to actually stitch it. Maybe on July 4 since they are talking rain here... Have fun at Sisters!!
