A few years ago we saw a wonderful antique bow-tie quilt at Sisters and Bonnie challenged us (and her blog readers) to make cheddar bow-tie blocks. Look what I found the other day?! Not this little mini quilt!! LOL
But a bunch of blocks made and some cut and ready to sew. Then I sewed them up and made the mini quilt. Love me some cheddar! How about you?
I LoVe the cheddar! I wish I'd remember to use a color when it calls for a light background. I will definetly be giving this a go! Sweet little bow tie quilt! Mmmmmm, now let me see, I think I may just have to make one now! Thanks for the post...always enjoy your blog! Hugs Marg.
Cheddar is so hard to find in my neck of the woods. I snatch it up every chance I get. I love your little bow ties surrounded by cheddar. It looks really good the way you have used a variety of cheddars--so much more depth to the overall effect of the quilt, I think. : )
What a delight! Finding the blocks and fixings and the finished top. Mmmm! I love cheddar (cheese too) but it's not a colour I've worked with so I just might have to give it a try.
What a great coincidence! The bowties are perfect with the cheddar.:) I love that color myself, but it isn't a popular color in the quilt stores around here.
I have deveoped a love of cheddar backgrounds also. I've done two block swaps and we used different cheddars as backgrounds. I think I used three or four different ones on the same block. That way when I got the other swappers blocks they work well together.
Love your range of cheddars Lori. Are your blocks about 4" size? I made a mini one a few years ago and just bound the blocks, no borders. Looking forward to your finished quilt!
Makes Bonnie's Scrappy heart happy to see Cheddar, I'm sure. I got my bowtie quilt ready for quilting. Not Cheddar but scrappy, everything. It is on the TBQ stack that keeps growing.
What a great mini cheddar quilt. I like cheddar, but I seem to have trouble putting other colors with it. As in "Does this go?" LOL I see that you do not have that trouble.
Oh my gosh. Your cheddar bow tie is so sweet. I have been on the hunt for a perfect cheddar for a long time. The ever inspirational Bonnie made one and it's on my list just like your zig zag quilt was. I finally found a shop in Wisconsin that had the Moda Bella solid called cheddar. Four yards came home with me on Monday! It's going to age for awhile (in my closet) like a good cheddar cheese does. Well, this is Wisconsin right?
I think it was DarLynn who had made the quilt originally and Bonnie decided to do it with the cheddar background. Yours is awesome!! My bow ties are in a zip lock bag, but I know where they are so I'm happy about that!
Hello! I had to laugh when I saw your cheddar bow ties! I did Bonnie's challenge too, and have a mini quilt nearly identical looking, except no bright cheddar. Recently I started a Legends & Lace quilt using the baskets & applique patterns, and also B. Brackman's Sawtooth Star quilt-along. So much fun! (at least to me) Thanks for your ever inspiring photos & sharing your great quilts .... Humble Quilts is one of my favorites.

DeleteSweet quilt! Love the cheddar!
ReplyDeleteI have piles of bow tie blocks from Bonnie's challenge. Mine are all just scrappy...not cheddar. I really should make them into a quilt some day!
