Dear Daughter blocks 17-20

Gay at Sentimental Stiches has another set of Dear Daughter blocks up. More fun ones! Get them HERE.

I thought this would be a fun one to make on the 4th of July. Looks like my piecing skills need work! LOL I think it may make a fun center to a small quilt.

Here's my instagram feed for the week. It really has been lovely. Mother nature has turned up the dial and now summer is really here!

Have a lovely weekend!

  1. Love your little Union block! I'm focusing on making the NJ blocks from the Dear Daughter quilt. Can't wait to start on the next one!

  2. I just saw your post on the the Dear Daughter quilt. I used to subscribe to the newsletter and when I got overwhelmed with email, I just unsubscribed from most of my quilting newsletters. I follow you on Bloglovin'. I love your Union center to your block and it will make an adorable center to a quilt. I wish I had learned about the blocks when I could have downloaded all of them for free. I had to pay the fee to download all the blocks when I doubt that I will make all of them but yet I hate not to have all of them in case I do indeed want all of them. Oh, what a dilemma. If my daughter were a history teacher instead of a math teacher, I might be more inclined to make the blocks, eh? Again, thanks for the intro to the Dear Daughter quilt. AND your piecing is awesome on your quilt. I was just wondering how I might do that when I saw how small the pieces are. There is not enough room for the typical 1/4" seam allowance, at least it doesn't look like it. I figured that I might take a 1/4" and then I think somewhere I have a 1/8" seam allowance ruler for small paper piecing so that I could cut it down to 1/8" after I sew each seam. Just an idea. Great job on your block~ susan.dietrich@cox.net

  4. Lori, I find the simple log cabin type blocks are sometimes more challenging since even a tiny variation of the seams makes the strips look uneven. I like your block, though. I'd still use it as long as it squares up to the right size. But that's me....

  5. It is a challenge to keep those little strips straight when stitching together. But humble quilts don't need them perfectly straight, do they? :)
Okay, looking at your Instagram, is that a tent in your kitchen?

  7. Thanks for the link. I am making an effort to print these for a later date. UFO'S and time sensitive projects are taking my time. I have that Union fabric. Have fun at Sister's.
