I picked this up at my local thrift store and have really enjoyed it! Stories of women and their quilts- right up my alley! There are patterns too with variations. A lot of history and research has gone into this book and I recommend it highly! (available used on amazon for next to nothing)

A hiking group I am on were doing a day hike about 3.5 hours away from me. I do have a difficult time with a drive that is longer than the hike, so I asked a friend if she wanted to meet up and backpack and that is exactly what we did! Weather was warm and the falls were beautiful!
It is harder and harder to find old growth forests.
I kept feeling like I was in the movie Jurassic park! LOL
Straight ahead was Siouxon creek- always nice to sleep next to a babbling brook. Got to try out my new one person tent- thumbs up!
After setting up camp we day hiked to a couple of larger falls, then forded the creek back to camp. We thought we were going to be hiking about 4miles in... somehow 4 turned to 10, then 7 back out. It was worth it! So relaxing and restorative.
I think I have that book! I'll have to go dig in my library ... after my measly 2.5 mile walk with my pooch! Lol!

The green ferns and moss---I thought fairy tale, not Jurassic Park,lol. You hiked 17 miles!? Wow. Do you ever worry about theft when you leave your camp for what must ave been a fairly long time?

ReplyDeleteI never know whether to feel sad, or glad, that these older very carefully researched and written quilt books are now for sale for so little. I never knew that book - looks good. AND, wow, wow, wow, you were sure surrounded by some awesome lush natural beauty for your backpacking!!
