Holiday Favorites Blog Hop!

I hope you will join in the Holiday Favorite blog hop! A few of my favorite bloggers are joining!! The list and links are at the bottom of this post.

There are many things to like about the holidays! I love traditions, Christmas tv shows, family get togethers, the smell of pine.
When it comes to decorating I use several quilts and will show you a few from our main level of our house.
I seem to have lots of layers this year. The Let it Snow quilt is designed by County Threads and is called Wear Warm Clothes. (I opted to put Let it Snow) The quilts on the couch are not Christmas quilts but are made with lots of brushed cottons so are easy to snuggle with on cold winter evenings. I want my visitors to feel like they can wrap up in a quilt anytime! And in my house, you never know where you'll find the Danish Maileg Nisse or mice.
Throughout the house you;'ll see touches of my Scandinavian heritage.
 Hanging in the downstairs bathroom.
My friend Karen made the Santa wallhanging for me. I love it!

This year I decided to go decorating "light", but love the textiles and little quilts.

This is one of my older quilts that I use for holiday decor.
It uses one of my favorite blocks- the Sawtooth star.

Would you like to make one?

My blocks are 5" finished. (click to enlarge block instructions)
The little quilt will finish about 22" square.

Sew together 3x3.

Cut 2 strips 15.5" x 1.5" and add to sides for inner border.
Cut 2 strips 17.5"x 1.5" and attach to the top and bottom for inner border.
Cut 2 strips 17.5"x3"  for outer border- sew to sides.
Cut 2 strips 22.5"x3" and sew to top and bottom.

GIVEAWAY!
Admire your work! Don't worry about quilting this year. Hang it up and plan on finishing before next year.
I just picked up this small doily at the Scandinavian Festival on Saturday. I'm sure it is all handmade and vintage! It measures about 6" square including the adorable tiny fringe. Leave a comment and I will announce the winner of the doily on Wednesday.

  41. Great idea to put a mini on the back of your chairs. I usually drape a quilt back there but it's sometimes too bulky to sit back on. Love the little stitchery in the bathroom (This House Believes in Santa)! Merry Christmas!
