Ohio's Miami Valley Sampler Quilt- Made in Oregon

 Here is the finished Ohio Sampler quilt. Pieced in Oregon, machine quilted in Ohio.

The quilt was a mix of both of these books. 

My friend and quilter did a wonderful job on this quilt.

It was fun, historical and whimsical!!

Wonderful Wednesday

I'm still working on hand sewing this binding down. I've got 2 more coming back from the quilter soon so I must hurry!

 I've been showing you a little here and there. Isn't this pretty?

 The 1857 sampler blocks 2 are ready to download. That's all I'm got done so far. Look at the red circles block! I love it!!

 Prepping a little wool too.

Ta-Da! Ohio Sampler!!

I got the Ohio sampler top assembled!! 

 It was quite the puzzle.

I hardly had space to lay it out. I assembled from the top, then started at the bottom and met in the middle...sort of.

 Here are a few closer up photos.

 I added the flag to fill in a 23x8 " space. I like it so much.

It fun, its quirky and its humble! All just the way I like it!

Now that I am showing these again as I assemble them you can see the embroidery I've added. 

I opted to add a frame around the peony rather than an extra strip between the blocks. 

Looks a little goofy.....

But it worked....... (for now!)

Stars and Samplers.....Again

 Here are my Stars in a Time Warp blocks- "neat stripes" this week. I'm not sure how neat my stripes are though! LOL  The pink and red on the right was cut wrong, so I went with it.

I'm attempting to get some some of the Ohio sampler blocks sewn together.

 I had to make these  basket blocks.

 The deer was substituted and it was supposed to be 12 tall and 10 wide, instead I did it the other way around.

So, I trimmed it and gave him some grass. 

So, I was downstairs getting organized for the graduation party and I hear a strange noise. I followed it upstairs and it was my sewing machine!! I had left it on and it decided to sew FAST speed without me! I have it ready to take in and am getting reacquainted with my first machine- a Viking. Do they even make Viking sewing machines anymore?

Wednesday Wanderings

Here we are again! Thanks for your overwhelming support for the Humble Quilts facebook group! I thought maybe 20 people would be in the group. Today there is 100+. 

For those of you not on Facebook I will still have the linky party so we can see all the little swap quilts in one place. Let me know if you have NOT received your quilt. Then I can plan on a date to do a final blog post. I know the quilts I've seen are stunning!  If you have any complaints or suggestions, please let me know.

I've got a few blocks of my sampler sewn together. I'm having some machine problems. It takes off at full speed sometimes! Sometimes I'm not even sitting at the machine! I'm getting afraid to thread it, lest I lose my finger under the needle.

I cannot show the blocks I am making with this fabric but isn't it cool? I love the faded look of it. I hope I can get the effect I want from it.

Did I mention I'm hosting my nephew's graduation party at my house this Saturday? My niece and 2 nephews lived with us for 5 years and he is the last one to graduate. I've done all the other parties and am looking forward to the LAST!
I may not have a blog post on Friday.

Stars and Samplers

I want to say first that I hope everyone is nearing the completion of the doll quilt they are making. I know many have been sent and received! They are fantastic. Be sure to let me know if you receive a quilt that is not up to snuff or rules were not followed. I want to know.

I'm almost at the end of my sampler blocks. Won't you be thrilled!? Most of the blocks I am showing today replace ones in Anita's sampler.

I'm using this instead of the periwinkle block. Unfortunately this block does not have a seam allowance!

 Serpentine strips for Stars in a Time Warp. The brown one I consider an ombre, but it's got a diagonal stripe.

 Here's my California Gold Stars in a Time Warp. I had a harder time understanding the interpretation since a lot of the fabric she showed was caramel colored. This is my interpretation. 

I have a couple more sampler blocks completed.  Flowers on Vine..

 Laurie brought this unusual photo quilt to the class on Tuesday.

It has issues, but is so cool! I wish my photos would have stayed in the upright position.

Look at how fancy the "frame" is of this one.
