Bountiful Harvest

No matter life's circumstance I feel extremely blessed!
Grateful my daughter is alive and slowly, slowly getting better after the horrific car accident..
Grateful for the travel I've been able to do this year.
Grateful for a generous husband.
And so grateful for YOU! Thank you so much for sharing your life with me and continuing to follow and comment on my blog and facebook group. Thank you for supporting my little Etsy store where I hope to continue to hunt down "hard to find, out of print" reproductions for you.

Thank you to the guilds who have hired me for trunk shows and workshops. I really enjoy meeting quilters from all over!

I'm grateful for my country where we are free to speak, protest, worship, gather, vote. (And so much more!) So many countries are not afforded these same freedoms.

No matter where you are in the world I am thankful for YOU!!

Welcome Autumn!

Driving over the mountain pass to my guild meeting colors are starting to change. We still have plenty of nice weather left, so I don't want to rush it!  Either way, we are officially in autumn.

A local friend contacted me recently and asked if I was still collecting pillowcases. I'm not actively seeking them out at this point, but I will never say no. I then contacted my other friend and asked if she'd like to make them into little dresses for my mission trip. Aren't they sweet?! Thank you JoAnne and Laurie!
Next week I'll start organizing my bags and see what else I may need. I am collecting used eyeglasses. If you are lead to give and you'd like to pop them in the mail, I'll gladly accept then. Email me for my address- humblequilts@gmail.com

Thank you sweet and generous friends!
Have an amazing weekend.

Sewing Retreat

Retreats, regardless of what kind of retreat is really about the friendships forged and renewed. If you don't have girlfriends who are positive and encouraging you need to find some!
Several have asked about how we do our retreat. We look for accommodations on Airbnb and VRBO, then when we find a place that will have enough beds and space for us to spread out a bit. Split 4 ways makes it very reasonable. We stayed 3 nights and I made dinner one night and 2 gals made dinner the other 2 nights. The other made side dishes and desserts. We never starve, that's for sure!

Michelle is working on her Anniversary quilt by Jan Patek. Her version is gorgeous!

Here's one little project I worked on.
I did finish appliqueing some baskets, and got the entire quilt set, but I cannot show it to you yet. I'm thrilled with it!

Carrie worked on this and a child's quilt. She is an expert needlewoman too and I neglected to photograph her cross stitch.

Christy wins the "staying focused" prize!
She got this Bonnie Hunter mystery assembled.

And this one too! Unbelievable! Doesn't it look beautiful with those fall leaves on the deck?

Leaving my desert landscape to go to the "wet" side of the mountain also meant the colorful side of the mountain!

Right outside our window.

There was a hot tub and a river right out back as well!

I went up the road for a quick jaunt. WOW!

It was very wet bit not that cold. FUN!!

I really had a good time away. Always good to get away from the dust bunnies and laundry! LOL

Take care my dear friends and have a lovely weekend.
Good bye October...

Favorite Fall Quilts

Our nights are cooling off and autumn is in the air here in Central Oregon.
I shared a few of the small quilts throughout the house and here are some larger ones that we have ready to snuggle or on the beds.

Basketweave. The only thing fall-ish about this is the cheddar/orange setting triangles, which I love!

The Old City, Made after our trip to Denmark.

A Jan Patek quilt designed from an antique.

One of my favorites. Blue and cheddar is a winning combo!

A lovely round robin that says fall to me.

A Jan Patek design I did as a quilalong. it's called Fall Festival.
My super favorite Thanksgiving photo!!

This quilt says welcome when you enter my home.

Wilderness Road friendship quilt.

A friend and I had a fall finale backpacking trip. Love seeing fall colors in nature!

Mt Hood in all its glory.

                     Beautiful autumn sunrise.

Have you started to decorate for fall?

Let's have a terrific week!

Favorite Quilt From Aurora Colony Quilt Show

But first..... Thank you for all the well wishes on the race. We needed it!

Because I live on the dry side of the mountain (High desert) we don't get a lot of color and the trip to Hood River was amazing!

Because I would be leaving the start line at 5:15AM I wanted to see the route I'd be walking.

Too bad I passed this the following morning  in the dark with heavy rain!!

The views were amazing as were the colors! Lots of fruit orchards and wineries in the area.

Passed this brilliant red shrub on our walk to dinner.

We had rain, wind, lightning and thunder, but also lots of rainbows throughout race day.

Here is our team shortly before my early morning start.

Thankfully I didn't have to travel on sleet/snow/hail, but the woman I passed off to did. It was brutal!

Despite the inclimate weather I did the best ever at "race walking" and our team did very well with an overall average pace of 13:16 per mile.

Now, back to my favorite quilt at the Aurora show.

The owner calls it Potpourri.

It is sweet, humble and charming rolled into one terrifically crazy styled quilt!

I would estimate this quilt to have been made about 1900 not 1875 as the label indicates. I have no clue where the owners got the idea this had anything to do with a maple star block.

It was charming no matter what we call it!

Have a super fantastic week!
