Full of Gratitude

I have so much to be thankful for!
Many of you have donated to support Faith Seeds, and I want you to know how much it means.

Faith Seeds serves families in Guatemala near Xela, meeting real and ongoing needs. The ministry pays tuition, uniform costs, and school supplies for eligible students. The after-school program is a safe space for the children, for the mommas who often walk many kilometers to bring them, and even for their pets! I loved seeing how it became a true refuge from the hardships of daily life.

Many of these families make their living by collecting recyclables in the garbage dump. Faith Seeds offers their children a different future—an education that helps them understand they do not have to work in the dump. They learn that God has a plan for their lives, that they are made in His image, and that they are deeply valued.

Beginning in January 2025 Many items were donated to me for Faith Seeds and I am happy to report you have allowed me to be a part of a matching fund effort! Thank you!

Juliann also donated this UFO and I am getting it completed. That will be a 2026 donation!

My heart is full!

We had originally planned to go to Guatemala in November and circumstances caused us to delay that trip. We will be leaving the last day in January through the first week of February. 

Most of the families live at the foot of a volcano sitting about 7500' elevation so it does get chilly. 

Donna has graciously sent 3 boxes of warm clothing and coats to bring with me! Her daughter Krista knitted hats and I got those this week! So excited to deliver these and help distribute them. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

If you would consider donating YOU all helped make matching funds up to $10,000! School starts in January and tuition, uniforms, and supplies all need to be paid for. Faith Seeds has an after school program that provides tutoring and a large meal. If your heart is stirred to give you can do that HERE.

Fundraiser Success! Thank you!

The fundraiser for Faith Seeds was a resounding success! Thank you all again for your donations. 

Rebecca Yoder, I'm so sorry I didn't get a photo of your quilt with the high bidder. They must have paid and left quickly. I was helping as I could with closing out the auction. 

Gaby is on the left. She is the founder of Faith Seeds in Guatemala. The woman on the right purchased this quilt that was donated by a Humble Quilts follower. 

My friend Carrie, on the right, donated this antique quilt and the man on the left was the purchaser. 

The basket quilt I donated and Carrie purchased it! 

This beauty was purchased and donated  to Gaby and her new husband. 

We set a lofty goal of raising $20,000 and we raised a bit over $16,000, so I would say it was super successful!

This was the amazing view on our drive home.

Here are a few things coming up on Humble Quilts:

Fundraiser book sale! Lots of goodies, mostly donated from you all for a cause! I will be going to Guatemala later this year and I'm fundraising for Faith Seeds. You can read more about that HERE. I'm waiting for more books to arrive. 

Here are a few ready to go!

Thank you all for being so supportive. A few have asked about the t shirt dresses. Because these families are in the mountains(7500'+) it is quite cold and I may be trying to take some jackets this year. They are also at the foot of a live volcano and are sick from breathing in toxic fumes and ash. 

I'll be putting a call out for the annual Humble Quilts dolly swap, likely the 3rd week of March. If you want to participate you can start thinking about a quilt to make. 

The Lancaster quilt show is now in Lebanon. If you are going to be there I'd love to meet up!

Mid April I'll be at the Chula Vista Quilt Guild. I'd love to see you there!

Upcoming on Humble Quilts

 Good morning!

I will be presenting to Flying Geese Quilters guild in Irvine,  CA  on Monday August 8th at Jeffrey Trail Middle School, 155 Visions. Irvine, CA 92620. 

Social time starts at 6PM.  If you are anywhere nearby, please come! My trunk show is 

"Glory Bee! Patriotic Quilts from my Collection"  I'm very excited!

Do you know I have a pattern available for this quilt? I've also put together some little patriotic scrappy starter packs that equal 1 yard. Let me know if you'd like more information. 

****September 22, 2022 I'll be at Marys River Quilt Guild in Philomath, Oregon. 

My final fundraiser book sale will start on August 12th. Thank you to all who have donated to the cause! My husband and I are both doing the mission trip this year. Any extra funds raised will be donated to the water well project! Hard to believe not all people have access to clean drinking water!!

This is just a handful. I've got some great books!

Pillowcase dresses- I have many to bring with me to Dominican Republic. 

One of the neighborhoods we provided with water! Not only did they get water, but the government will now allow them to have a school!

Any overseas missions trips for me have been postponed the past 2 years but it looks like this year is a go! Dominican Republic is on the radar for late November. Since Cory is working a temporary position I've asked him to go with me.

This fundraiser will go to MSI for my trip expenses and water wells in DR.

Book Sale Fundraiser

If you have been following me for any length of time you know I usually have a book sale to raise money for my yearly mission trip. Last years trip to Dominican republic was canceled and I believe it is rescheduled for early 2022. 

The books are piling up in my sewing room so I thought I'd have a sale for another charity that is close to my heart. 

If you are looking for a particular issue, please let me know. I may have it! I'm not sure if I should donate these or not. Is there any desire to purchase them? Let me know!

The ministry I'm donating to is called Faith Seeds Guatemala. 

My friend, Gaby, started this ministry working with families, especially children, who work in the dump to make a living. These kids don't get an opportunity to attend school because they do not have the finances for uniforms, books, etc.  In order to get them out of poverty Gaby realizes they must attend school. This past year has been especially hard. 

No matter the hardships they are so grateful and joyful people. 

Less than 1% of the Guatemalan population is fully vaccinated against Covid. I'm sure the poorest of poor will be the last to receive any vaccination. 

Here is Gaby and I in Bolivia where she served as a translator for our team. 

Since I'm nursing my ankle I'll be home getting books ready for Monday! Please check back then.
