Cousin's Walk Bird Sampler

I thought I better move forward with the applique border of the Cousin's Walk bird sampler. 

It is big!

I oversized the triangles, so needed to trim first. 

It certainly will not look like the original quilt, but I guess that is what will make it uniquely mine. It seems I ended up with extra flowers, leaves and buds. 

 

As a reminder here is my center.

I need to start stitching the top and bottom borders. I am machine appliqueing. 

I'm off to Las Vegas!

The kids (hahaha adult kids) and I are running the Rock N Roll series!

Cory is our spectator and cheerleader!

Saturday night starting and ending on Freemont street Rene and I are running a 5K. 

Sunday night the strip streets will be closed and Rene is running the 10K (covid took some training time away boo-hoo) and Ken and I are running the half marathon. It should be fun!

My last half marathon was in September 2018. I'm doing it as a way to usher in my 60th birth-year. I'll have fun, take photos and celebrate!

Fitful Friday

I'm feel like I'm fitful~ "active or occurring spasmodically or intermittently; not regular or steady."

Nothing is as it should be and it makes me so sad! 

I've slowly started to do a little decorating for spring, but most of that is on this weekend's agenda. 

This liberated basket quilt brings me a smile and reminds me of May Day. 

This is one of my older quilts designed by Country Threads.

And then here is my 4 block version of the Spencer Museum Quilt, pattern by Jan Patek.

Slowly spring is showing her face in little ways. (desert phlox)

Short little daffodils my sister planted in my garden. 

 Still trying to get outdoors every day. My mental health depends on it! This was yesterday's weather! It was a dusty run but so rejuvenating, and I actually slept well- bonus!

I was thinking about trying to make a photo of my next run! This reminds me of a face with a cowboy hat on! LOL This social distancing is getting to me!! 

Taking pleasure in the simple things! I found bleach!

Vintage Quilts Friday

Before I went on my trip to Ohio, Linda, Kathy's sister, asked if I would be interested in taking a vintage quilt off her hands. Thank you Linda for thinking of me!

Here is the charming quilt I made room for. 

 Humble hanging diamond quilting on this charming 2 color quilt. The quilting lines up as good as mine! LOL

 Freehand fan quilting on 2 sides. 

 Double quilt lines on the other 2 sides. I LOVE everything about it!!

 The quilts below were brought to my lectures and we had fun seeing a wide variety of quilts and styles!!

 These were about 3/4" finished squares. 

Love the blue and chrome!

 Thsi crazy quilt looked to be made by several people. Lots of different block styles and stitches. I hope "Father" loved it!

Most 4th of July I have ran a local race, either by myself or with my kids if they are home. This year I opted to walk the 6 mile race. I came in first in my age category! The only time I ever came in first and they posted me with a different age category so I was not recognized as first place!! Figures! Keepin' me humble... 

But, while on the walk I met a woman and we chatted a bit.

 They were looking to add a team member to the Cascade Lakes walking team- so I said YES! It's about 100 miles for the walking team and will take 12 of us a total of about 30 hours.

I've been on a running team the last 2 years, but I'm always up for a new adventure. I like that it is a 40+ all woman's team. Sounds like they have a good time, but are a little competitive.

 (I think I'll fit in just fine!) 

I've been trying to get my walking speed up and boy it is hard! I think it is harder than running!!
