Snowballs in Summer

Finally finished a quilt! I started this one after P&B Textiles sent me fabric called Friendship Ring by Evonne Cook. You can see my first post HERE

I'm really happy with how it turned out. Kim McCray in Bend quilted it for me and I like the fans on this one.

Of course, my backings are always a mixed bag.

I love this pink fabric. The quilt has been washed and measures approx 54" square. It's a good lap size. 

This quilt is for sale and the money is going to MSI to bring clean water to a community in or near Trujillo, Peru. That's where I'll be going in November.  Shoot me off an email if you are interested or would like more info.

Groovin' Mid-Week

I've worked on a few projects this week but am not ready to show them yet. My Gwennie inspired medallion center is done. My Porch Quilt, block one is done. 

My Rebekah Smith wool appliqué mystery for May is done. Unbeknownst to me I was not supposed to show it on my blog.  I hope Humble Quilts facebook group will give people the benefit of the doubt BEFORE going all crazy and being rude. I took my post down as soon as I saw I wasn't supposed to post it. I'm so sorry to Rebekah for revealing her lovely design. 

Now, what I can show. I got my snowball quilt trimmed, label sewn on and ready to add the binding. 

I'm almost done with Cheri's scrap basket quilt.

Friday! Friday! And a Book Winner!

Helloooooo and happy Friday!

I picked this up at the quilters on Wednesday. I'm hoping to get the binding on it this weekend. I do believe I will put this one up for sale at Sisters this summer. I was showcasing the reproduction fabrics by P&B Textiles. I like it a lot and am glad I chose the fan quilting.

I'm heading to Portland on Sunday to spend the day with my daughter and niece. My daughter has made a life change and we are going to help her make her studio a happy place! (And set up her sewing space!)

Snowballs in Summer

I was recently asked to make a quilt using a reproduction line from P & B Textiles. I LOVE that they are branching out to more reproductions.  

 This particular line is called Friendship Ring by Evonne Cook with pinks,pinkish reds,  chocolates, with a touch of cheddar.  I started with strips.

 And made nine patches alternating with a snowball block.

 I saw a vintage quilt and fashioned mine similar to it. I'm very happy with it! For the snowball blocks I did use a few of my own light colored prints.

 The cheddary one in the center is part of the friendship line.

The nine patch blocks are made with 2 1/2" strips and finish at 6". For the snowball blocks I used 2 7/8" squares and added them to the corner of a 6 1/2" square, finishing at 6".
Instead of assembling my quilt in long rows I make it in 4 sections, which makes it easier to put together (imho, anyway!)

Look for the reproduction fabric lines from P and B, called Washington Street Studio,  including this wonderful line!!

Friendship Ring

I was asked to work with P & B fabric again. P & B have started a reproduction division called Washington Street Studio.  The line I am working with is called Friendship Ring.

My photo does not do this line by Evonne Cook justice. I have a plan and started cutting this weekend while hanging out at with my mom. I'm going to start sewing this week. (I may have to bring my sewing machine to my moms! lol)

Chevrons in Autumn

I finished my little chevron top using the wonderful clear bold True Blues from P & B Textiles. (you can see the complete line close up by following the link)

White was clearly the color of choice to use with these wonderful clear deep blues. I don't have much white in my stash, so ended up using a little surprise white. Isn't that cute?

And if you'd like to know how it is strip pieced here is my EQ diagram. The rows are sewn together on the diagonal. Genius piecing!

I had to add a couple of photos from our trip to the coast. After my sprinkly race this is how the day ended!

Love More

I was asked if I would like to help promote P&B Textiles. They have a great reputation but a little quiet on the social scene. A few of us have decided we'd like to be in on waking up their online presence!

Look at these great fabrics. The line is called Love More by Susan Black. (from the saying, "Fear Less, Love More")

This is perfect for me, because I have committed to going on a mission trip to Guatemala this fall. I don't have a lot of fears in life, but have found myself lately feeling the need to Love More so I was thrilled when this line was an option for me to work with.

There isn't a lot of contrast so that was a challenge as well.

I was so excited to see the FULL piece that I didn't bother to iron it. This one is my favorite!

I will start cutting soon, but my machine is set up for quilting and I will get that project finished first.
