Snowballs in Summer

Finally finished a quilt! I started this one after P&B Textiles sent me fabric called Friendship Ring by Evonne Cook. You can see my first post HERE

I'm really happy with how it turned out. Kim McCray in Bend quilted it for me and I like the fans on this one.

Of course, my backings are always a mixed bag.

I love this pink fabric. The quilt has been washed and measures approx 54" square. It's a good lap size. 

This quilt is for sale and the money is going to MSI to bring clean water to a community in or near Trujillo, Peru. That's where I'll be going in November.  Shoot me off an email if you are interested or would like more info.

Farmhouse Fabs for Friday

I saw this line the other day and came to a screeching halt!I believe they may have been originally printed by Blue Hill and now reprinted by Washington Street Studio, a Division of P&B Textiles.

These will be perfect for the 1857 quilt and the green and red collaboration I'm working on with Martha. (actually she is doing the work and I am making the blocks!- Awesome collaboration, huh?) 

These 9 are available from Two Thimbles Quilt Shop. Lee has been very helpful, even offering a little quilt to any swapper that may have not received one. (Everyone has, I think) How cool is that?

Friday! Friday! And a Book Winner!

Helloooooo and happy Friday!

I picked this up at the quilters on Wednesday. I'm hoping to get the binding on it this weekend. I do believe I will put this one up for sale at Sisters this summer. I was showcasing the reproduction fabrics by P&B Textiles. I like it a lot and am glad I chose the fan quilting.

Snowballs in Summer

I was recently asked to make a quilt using a reproduction line from P & B Textiles. I LOVE that they are branching out to more reproductions.  

 This particular line is called Friendship Ring by Evonne Cook with pinks,pinkish reds,  chocolates, with a touch of cheddar.  I started with strips.

 And made nine patches alternating with a snowball block.

 I saw a vintage quilt and fashioned mine similar to it. I'm very happy with it! For the snowball blocks I did use a few of my own light colored prints.

 The cheddary one in the center is part of the friendship line.

The nine patch blocks are made with 2 1/2" strips and finish at 6". For the snowball blocks I used 2 7/8" squares and added them to the corner of a 6 1/2" square, finishing at 6".
Instead of assembling my quilt in long rows I make it in 4 sections, which makes it easier to put together (imho, anyway!)

Look for the reproduction fabric lines from P and B, called Washington Street Studio,  including this wonderful line!!

Friendship Ring

I was asked to work with P & B fabric again. P & B have started a reproduction division called Washington Street Studio.  The line I am working with is called Friendship Ring.

My photo does not do this line by Evonne Cook justice. I have a plan and started cutting this weekend while hanging out at with my mom. I'm going to start sewing this week. (I may have to bring my sewing machine to my moms! lol)

Two Finishes!

I finally got back to a few quilts that needed binding.  Here's a little log cabin table topper.

Simple primitive quilting to match the simple quilt.

This backing came from my friend Jill's sewing room after she passed away last year. It reminds me of the cute little things we collect and cherish.

Here's the Love More I made with the P&B fabric. After my trip to Guatemala I think it means more to me now than when I made it.

Here's a close up you can see the fabric. I'm going to give this to the woman I went to Guatemala with as we shared so much and we both learned to deepen our love to others.

Love More, Fear Less

Remember this post a few days back?  I had an afternoon of sewing time this weekend. It felt great!

 Look at the detail of this fabric by P&B Textiles. It really was a joy to work with.

 The medium value was difficult to work with. I took the lightest print and used that consistently while making the Puss in the Corner blocks. I could tell right away it wasn't going to make the pattern I thought it would. I feared less and moved ahead with my plan.

 It seems the center is a bit of a jumble, but it is growing on me. It begs for a closer look, which is good since it is the fabric that steals the show. I fussy cut to make the border, which I think helps define it. Overall I'm happy with it.

Lizzy suggested a market bag, so I found an online pattern and whipped up this hobo bag. When my husband came home from work he said, "You don't make bags" LOL I do now!  I didn't have enough P&B fabric for the lining so I added a neutral stripe.  

I couldn't resist. He wasn't happy about it though.
