I LOVE this!

Shenandoah Stars

Here is my version of Shendoah Stars. I had a little hiccup with the quilting, so had to remove all the machine quilting, then remarked it and hand quilted it.

I did some simple cross hatch quilting.

The new, the old.
I picked this up in Virginia last year! It is a sweet summer weight crib size quilt. Read more HERE

I have kits and a pattern for this in my ETSY shop.

My sisters grandson and Elsa always pick back up where they left off. They are good pals!

I'm hanging out with family, then Wednesday I'll be in Dayton, Oregon with Willamette Valley Quilters. Come if you are close!

Shenandoah Stars

Thanks for the good feedback on my joyful Friday post. That was fun!

This quilt has been put on hold long enough! I had it machine quilted and it just wasn't what I hoped for, so I removed it then hem-hawed around trying to figure out how to quilt it.

I moved forward and started doing some large cross hatching, not minding where the stitches fall.
I've always liked an all-over pattern so I'll trust myself I'll like it when it is complete.

The fan stitching lines should come out after washing when the quilt is completed.

My friend Michelle, has been traveling for about a month so we met halfway and caught up while hiking and camping.

How beautiful it was!

Only after I started to take our food down that I thought you may be interested. We tie our food up and if we are in a populous bear area (or more remote) we will also add any lotion or anything smelly to our food bag. (no food in tent ever!) We find a high branch to throw our rope over and with a carabineer we attach our food bags and hoist it into the air, then tie our rope off on a nearby rock or tree. This method also keeps rodents from trying to get to your food as well.

If you are hiking/camping in a heavy bear area you may be required to carry a bear canister or a campsite will have a bear locker where everyone stores there food, etc. overnight.
Public service announcement of the day! Hahaha

Have a great week!

Shenandoah Stars

Some of you may have seen the antique quilt I shared that I picked up in Virginia. It was a summer weight (no batting) crib size quilt. One of the trunk shows I just shared in Washington was

Glory Bee: Patriotic Quilts from my collection.

I finished my version the night before I was to leave! I LOVE it! I was so happy to debut it at the guild meetings. (more on those meetings on Monday)

Here is my version. The right side border is claret. That little surprise is so sweet!

The rail fence blocks are not all the same size! Another sweet surprise.

Here is the original.

I've even made it into a kit!

Of course you can always purchase just the pattern.

This was my Electric Quilt sketch.

I hope your week was as good as mine! Let's also have an amazing weekend, friends!

I'm off grid so this is short and sweet!

Fickle Friday

Good Morning! I've been doing a little sewing but it is for a swap so I cannot share it yet.

My design wall speaks volumes. I'm all over the place!

These are adorable antique blocks I can't wait to work with.

I've been busy cutting kits for my patterns. The Oregon Quilt Festival is only 2 weeks away!
I love this quilt- found in Virginia! I call it Shenandoah Stars. (And it is 2 sided!)

I've been rollin', rollin', rollin....these fun 6 packs!

I'd love to find more of this old print! I'm using a little piece to embroider a saying to applique on the quilt.

My son and I went for a  long brisk walk yesterday. Finally had a little break in the weather. I'm still not going to the trails yet since it is so muddy. It was refreshing to get out! I've got to keep moving so when June arrives I'll be ready for our trekking trip in Peru!

I'm going to be retreating next week. I'll be bringing my computer so I can post.
It's tax time for me- I need to complete W2's and 1099's before the end of the year. (so much easier with only the machine shop)

Love ya!
