Fun on Friday! Little of This and That

When Laurie and I were on our New England trip we purchased a little Mill fabric for a challenge. I've been working on mine. I'm not quite ready to show it yet. 

And when I'm not sewing, hiking or working, I'm learning~! There are so many free online classes through REI and other outdoorsy businesses. 

I'll be visiting Beach Quilters Quilt Guild in Southern CA next month. I love seeing the class promotion. I'll be teaching this little quilt, zig zag setting and half blocks! 

I'm visiting Petaluma, CA quilt guild next week via Zoom. If you are in the area they are also holding a meeting in person. 

I am going to make a decision about a beginner's class on Monday. Please send an email if you are interested and have not contacted me.

Mugrugs to Bootcamp! Fun on Friday! Giveaway!

Is there anybody here that would be interested in taking an online beginner's class via Zoom? Beginner Quilters Bootcamp! I'm gauging interest.

So many quilt stores have closed their brick and mortar stores and not only do we lose the ability to purchase goods, but also classes! The internet is chock full of information, but sometimes too much information is overwhelming.

We could start with the basics and build.

$10 for 2 hours of teaching.

What tools do I need?

What size ruler and mat do I need?

Do I need to pay $13 yard for fabric?

Do I need an expensive sewing machine?

What kind of thread should I use? Does it matter?

Can I make quilts on a budget? (hint- ABSOLULTELY!)

Mugrugs! Who has made them? Who uses them? When mug rugs were the craze I never thought I'd use them as much as I have!

This little selvage mugrug is from my friend Diane when I was involved in a book review for her first quilt book in 2017.  It just came out of the wash and has seen many mugs!! 

Here is a before and after, gifted to me in 2011 by my friend Pam from Chico. I think it was the first time I net her in person. It's seen a few mugs too! LOL

After getting this block completed from May Day I realized I shouldn't have used the shirting for the background! Not for a mug rug anyway.
