Is there anybody here that would be interested in taking an online beginner's class via Zoom? Beginner Quilters Bootcamp! I'm gauging interest.
So many quilt stores have closed their brick and mortar stores and not only do we lose the ability to purchase goods, but also classes! The internet is chock full of information, but sometimes too much information is overwhelming.
We could start with the basics and build.
$10 for 2 hours of teaching.
What tools do I need?
What size ruler and mat do I need?
Do I need to pay $13 yard for fabric?
Do I need an expensive sewing machine?
What kind of thread should I use? Does it matter?
Can I make quilts on a budget? (hint- ABSOLULTELY!)
Drop a comment if you'd be interested or pass along this info to a friend.

Mugrugs! Who has made them? Who uses them? When mug rugs were the craze I never thought I'd use them as much as I have!
This little selvage mugrug is from my friend Diane when I was involved in a book review for her first quilt book in 2017. It just came out of the wash and has seen many mugs!!
Here is a before and after, gifted to me in 2011 by my friend Pam from Chico. I think it was the first time I net her in person. It's seen a few mugs too! LOL
After getting this block completed from May Day I realized I shouldn't have used the shirting for the background! Not for a mug rug anyway.
If you'd like a chance to have this little block reside at your house please leave a comment below!
Have an amazing weekend friends!
I would so love to have the little basket block reside at my house.

ReplyDeleteI'm happy to know that I am not the only one who uses mug rugs even those gifted. I love the one you made. The basket is made from a fabric that I also have in my stash. (great taste!) If I were to receive this little cutie, it would resided on my wall of fame as I have nothing on my wall from you ... yet. Have a great weekend. ;^)
ReplyDeleteI would love the little basket :-)
ReplyDeleteI love mug rugs. I have them everywhere here in the house. My quilt group makes them for sale in the two boutique sales we have every year. Would love this little basket to come stay with me.
ReplyDeleteI would love to have this block in my home. Baskets are a thing with me!!
ReplyDeleteI use them too! I don’t think I could put a mug of coffee on that cute basket though, I’d have to hang it in my sewing room!
ReplyDeleteI love basket blocks and those colors are definitely me!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely use my mug rugs! Coasters are so impersonal. Mug rugs are like a little quilted friend for your drink. Would love to have one made by you!
ReplyDeleteI love mug rugs, very useful! I like one on my desk for my phone. The Before and After strppy quilt is adorable, in both its forms. I agree w Julie, no cups on that darling Basket baby.
ReplyDeleteEspecially in our rural areas, we need to keep as many resources as we can!!! Great idea, times have sure changed. I am trying to keep the learning going for our little band of quilters, this year has been very good.... lots of learning curve. Class one was a member designed string pieced block. Will go into our "community" quilt chest soon! Class two was a Trip Around The World by a member who had never tried to teach before! Learning curve on both ends :D Class Three is in progress as we speak. This guy has quilted since he was a teen, and is a very gifted teacher! Stack 'n' Whack... and it is frustrating, but fun! My second try at finishing the same quilt!!!
ReplyDeleteQuestion for you and your following!! ?? Does anyone else have a 'black hole' in their home/quilting area???? So far in the last couple of months, my favorite paper scissors have disappeared, one antique block is MIA. I KNOW I put it in the to-do stack on top of the Free Model #5 Treadle. I KNOW this! POOF! I only wanted to make a mini/wall hanging size. All the other pieces are where they belong, but the center block?? Nahhhh Gone With The Wind. My thread snips, a package of flower head pins... (the nice thin ones) the list goes on... what the HECK?????
On a lighter note, your basket made me smile!!! My mama made a basket quilt... not sure what variety of basket block it is, but I am having a hard time quilting it... I have it sandwiched and came close a few times during Covid lockdowns... but just couldn't do it.... I guess the time will be right sometime. :(
I have a couple mug rugs and use them all the time!
ReplyDeleteThe little basket is adorable and it matches my house! Lol
