Happy Valentines Day!

My heart is full and I feel very blessed! Thank you all for being a part of my life, online and in person! You all enrich my life immensely!

A reader made a suggestion to replace a couple of strings on the basket, but I'm still stuck moving forward.

Using the background as a border gives me the illusion of a window.

checkerboard on the right, pretty fabric on the left. Neither is working for me.
Maybe I'll just leave it as a top to bring to class.
Speaking of class.. thank you to those who passed the word about me teaching! I've got a couple of things in the works.

I made a trip to WA state where a quilter passed away and her daughter was selling and cleaning out her mother's house. Oh my goodness, what a job!

If you zoom in on these books and see any you'd like to purchase please send me an email at humblequilts@gmail.com and I'll tell you the price and availability. Most of the Kaffe books have been put on Etsy- HERE

I'm being considered as a board member for Faith Seeds Guatemala, the ministry I went to last fall. I'll meet everyone tonight on Zoom, then they will vote on me. I love this ministry and look forward to helping them in any way I can.

Have a blessed week!

Friday Fun!

I've lost track of my days so snapped this photo quickly this morning.
It needs a good pressing!

I do like this better with the string border.  Not sure what comes next.

Many of you suggested a plainer, narrow border before adding the strings. I didn't have a solid red in the FG hue, but wasn't feeling the love on this one.

Thank you all for your suggestions!

We got off grid for a couple of days this week. If you aren't on my Facebook group you can be! It isn't super active but I can post spontaneously on there where I cannot do that with my blog. Find it HERE.

We stopped at a Stonehenge replica/memorial. Behind me is the Columbia River which divides Washington and Oregon states.

My daughter came out to the remote cabin or a night and we celebrated a belated Christmas with her.

Here is Cottonwood Canyon. Those hills have several large herds of bighorn sheep. Always excited to see them1

We hiked up for a view of the John Day River and the canyon. It was cold but the blue skies were lovely!

Packing up to our annual quilt retreat today!

I'll be in touch! Have a great weekend.

Basket Case String Block

This basket block has been on my design wall waiting for inspiration.

So I made a string border and don't like it at all.

Then I played around with another fabric. Still not loving it.

I do adore the border fabric, just not like this.

Then while in bed I had a thought.....

Maybe what I really don't like is that first border. So far I like it with the string border first.

I'd love your thoughts- please chime in!

The next few photos are from the last few days. We have been having a horrible inversion- heavy fog, freezing fog and no sunshine. 20 minutes away the sun is out and winter is wonderful- cold but sunny.

I had to make my way out of town the end of last week and it was terrific!

Then our inversion lifted! Always great for lifting my spirits too!

Christmas Eve we had family over and hung out outside at the firepit. It was really nice,  especially with a hot buttered run!

And Christmas Day we woke up to a little snow! It was magical!

This horse was having fun running through the field and stopped to watch Elsa and I on our morning walk. Look at the deer in the background- how cool is that?

I hope your week is going great!

New England Quilt Musem

I was fortunate to be able to visit the New England Quilt Museum in 2022 and 2023. Lowell, MA is a town with so much history. The west coast is young and I do appreciate the differences in areas of the USA. The above photo is now apartments but used to be a fabric mill.

The New England Quilt Museum is in a wonderful historic building.

Lowell, MA

Beginning September 12 and running through December 30 the special exhibit will be
Marston Retrospective Exhibit

I am honored to have 2 quilts in this exhibit, both started in a class with Gwen Marston in Sisters, Oregon.

The quilts were required to have hanging sleeves, so I had to do a little mandatory boring sewing. haha

When attaching the sleeve on a completed quilt it is important to not go through all layers.

The quilts are packed up and ready to go across the country! Maybe I'll get see this exhibit in person.

It has been a great week,. I got out to hike with my son very early before it warmed up- it was lovely.

I did get some strange bug bites on my ankles the day before our hike We normally do not have mosquitos so I'm not sure what it is from. My ankles are so swollen and itchy! It is really awful. I've resorted to taking some benadryl. It is super annoying!

I hope you all are doing wonderful!

Coming up soon: A giveaway and my yearly quiltalong.

Basket Case!

I finally finished by little baskets on cheddar. I love it! I call it Basket Case and it measures 14"x15".

I'll be doing a class next month and I feel like all 3 of the basket quilts are very different and hopefully inspires everyone to make what they want!

I tried a little creative photography- haha not my strong point!

PeekaBoo Elsa!

I used a fun print for the backing I picked up last time we were in Hawaii.

I had a really wonderful and relaxing holiday weekend. I am so appreciative of all of those who have sacrificed their life for my freedom.

Have a blessed week as we bid May farewell!

Bounty of Baskets

My basket runner is complete! I really love it. I kept the quilting simple and I like that it compliments the baskets and there isn't so much quilting that is takes away from the applique design. I'll be teaching this class this summer in Dayton, Oregon. It should be fun!

Let's have a great week!

A Bevy of Baskets

I decided to make a little runner with the patriotic baskets. I think it turned out so cute!

I got that great border fabric at the guild meeting in CA.

I hope your week is going good. Mine is. Everybody is on the mend!

Quilt Guild and Online Class

I was talking to my friend in Ohio and she feels like I need to come back and take my quilts on the road again! We did this in 2019 and had so much fun!!  She is located  in Ashtabula, which is fairly close to the PA border.  If you have any "pull" with your guild please suggest I come for a visit. If we can get enough guilds the travel costs would be very low. I believe in 2019 I visit 5 quilt groups! It was so much fun! Shoot me an email at humblequilts@gmail.com if you may be interested. I'm open to any time of the year except winter! LOL

The online basket class was yesterday. Here is the completed little table topper I made. It has a chunky sashing and is oh so humble!
The little one I used as a sample will be a mug rug.

Don't forget to add a label!

Have a great week!
