Friday Fun!

I've lost track of my days so snapped this photo quickly this morning. 

It needs a good pressing!

I do like this better with the string border.  Not sure what comes next. 

Many of you suggested a plainer, narrow border before adding the strings. I didn't have a solid red in the FG hue, but wasn't feeling the love on this one.

We got off grid for a couple of days this week. If you aren't on my Facebook group you can be! It isn't super active but I can post spontaneously on there where I cannot do that with my blog. Find it HERE.

We stopped at a Stonehenge replica/memorial. Behind me is the Columbia River which divides Washington and Oregon states. 

My daughter came out to the remote cabin or a night and we celebrated a belated Christmas with her. 

Here is Cottonwood Canyon. Those hills have several large herds of bighorn sheep. Always excited to see them1

We hiked up for a view of the John Day River and the canyon. It was cold but the blue skies were lovely!

Has Summer Arrived?

No, summer hasn't arrived yet, but temps in the 80's and 90's feel otherwise!! I'll look forward to Summer Solstice on June 22. 

I've been arranging a few quilts around the house, removing some for my lectures and putting others up. 

I'm not sure how much I like this, but it is staying for now. 

 Bring on summer!! This was a little round robin I love to pieces!!

Cory had a rare Saturday off and we opted to go for a drive and revisit some areas we haven't been to for some time.

This is called Sherar's Falls on the Deschutes River. No salmon are running so there were no fisherman, but do you see that wooden platform?

 The Native Americans stand on them, while being tied to shore, and dip long nets in to catch salmon. It's so scary to watch!! Learn more HERE.

We drove down the road a little further and went to a state park that we've never been to. Look how lovely this is!! This is called White River.

 We took a short hike into the canyon to get a closer look.
From Wikipedia: At the base of the falls are the ruins of a hydropower plant which supplied electricity to north central Oregon from 1910 to 1960.

This was a picnic lunch view! Devils Halfacre is what its called. 

Sorry I don't have more quilt related things to share. The weather has turned lovely and we had to enjoy the weekend.

Marvelous Monday

I got a bit of sewing done over the weekend but it is my string quilt and won't share that until next week. 

I started to gather my quilts for next month's lecture. I would like to bring my newer quilts so will be changing up the lecture.  I thought while I was going through quilts I'd hang a few ones too. 

This springy/summery quilt was designed by Cheri Payne. 

We have this old tv stand that I use to store some quilts in. Once when my son's friend came home with him from college, he said "oh a TV" then he opened it and only said "quilts". He was obviously disappointed!! 

I'll be getting more organized this week.

Here are a few I will be hanging up around the house. 

I've picked this handquilting back up for a few nights. Feels good to be working on it again.

The last hike we went on in Zion was full of amazing flowers! I can't help but think that mother nature sure knows how to combine colors!

Those red paintbrush seem to be growing from the rock face!

Always pack your headlamp, because you'll never know how fast the sun will set!!

On May 29th we will be sharing our Spencer Museum Quilt (even if it doesn't have anything to do with the museum! LOL) 

May 31 we will be sharing our string quilts. 

3 swap quilts are in overseas transit. I'm crossing my fingers these last few will make it to their destination. So far on the linky party there are 73 links. I hope you've taken a peek! There are some beauties! Great job this year friends!!
