Home of the Brave

It has been several days since I've gotten a chance to sew but I thought this Memorial weekend would be appropriate to make a few blocks for the Home of the Brave Quilt Project. Please check out the link and show your support for our fallen heroes by helping out your state project.

"The nation which forgets its defenders will itself be forgotten." ~ Calvin Coolidge, 30th president of the United States of America

The photos below were from the Umpqua Valley Quilters Guild quilt show. To date they have made 175 quilts to present to local military who are coming home from active service overseas. Wow! What a great guild!! I was considerably impressed.

This was my absolute favorite display at the quilt show.

Have a wonderful weekend and don't forget to hug a Vet!!

A few weeks ago, I read about your visit to the quilt shop, Something to Crow About. Since we were planning a trip to Oregon, I made a note of the address. What a neat shop and the salesclerk was really friendly. I found some fabric and a pattern. I tried to refrain from buying too much since we would be stopping at other shops on our trip. Have you ever stopped at Ladies of Liberty in Independence? A small shop but with a great selection of C. War repros. Thanks for sharing - I enjoy your blog.

What an impressive display of patriotic quilts! They couldn't go to better recipients either...
My family is all military from WWII through Bosnia - so lots of hugs to go around!
And a big salute to such a caring Quilt Guild.

HOB and QOV are two of my passions and have been involved with providing quilts for both for some time now. In fact, I've gotten my church quilt group involved. Can't think of a worthier cause!
