ABC......

The Abc Sampler I started with Karen is DONE!

Because of the primitive style quilt I asked Kathy to do a quick all -over machine quilting.
It looks great to me!
This is one of the few quilt backings I have that aren't pieced. I think Kat gave me the backing material out of her stash when I was there this past spring.  It's perfect! Thanks Karen for encouraging me to sewalong and Kathy for your quilting skills!

Thank you all who are sewing along with Palmateer Point! I love seeing your fabric choices on my Facebook group. If you aren't a part of that group, I'd love for you to join us!

Have a lovely Wednesday!

A Blackbird Gathering

A lovely friend (thank you Linda!) had most of the blocks completed and realized she didn't love working with wool, so she sent it to me and I finally got some time to get the top assembled. Whoop! Whoop! It isn't as scrappy and primitive as Cheri's but I love it!! Thank you Cheri for your generosity!
My flowers bed is as free and humble as my quilts!
Last weekend we went to a local venue to see Paul Simon! It was really great! It just so happened the 2 concerts we planned on going to this summer happened in the same week!! The weather was great, the music was great and we were surrounded by a lot of fun people.

Love to you all and Happy Wednesday!

Wednesday Finish

I finally completed Cheri's sampler quilt. I kept it fun and prim!

Patchwork backing, as usual.

We were in Bend on Saturday after a race and stopped by Quiltworks for a final look (my kids' first look) at the medallion exhibit. Thank you to those who were able to enter and commit for a month of viewing. Marilyn says it has been a big hit!

We will be doing to the final reveal of Fall Festival on Friday. Or whatever you have completed. We'd love to see it, even if it isn't completely done. Send me a photo or plan on adding your link!

Making a List, Checkin' it Twice

I admit to making a list, but not checking it twice. I've been doing so many group things that I've neglected the UFO's in my sewing room. Time to get organized!

Found this beauty in my closet ready to be trimmed and bound! I love it!
This is 9 blocks of the Benjamin Biggs quilt that Gay at Sentimental Stitches offered for free in 2014. Check it out HERE. Quilting was done by Sharon, Grass Roots Quilt Studio in Washington state.
Next up is a cute sampler that Cheri did as a quiltalong. Basted and ready to be machine quilted by me!

Getting my Fall Festival top assembled.
The last quiltalong was Back Porch/Front Porch Summertime by Jan Patek. Need to get a backing made.
More to come!

ABC Sampler

Here we are again. I'll have to take a slower pace since we are now shorthanded at work. Between hand quilting and hand applique it is causing some pain in my hand, so I may resort to machine applique on more than I planned.

My next job on this quilt is to make this all fit together. The bird and the apple tree are not appliqued yet either. I haven't decided what to do with the faces on the letter U for Us.
My shirt and pants didn't meet......

And that is why he has a belt of sorts. LOL I made the 2 square in a square and it was way too big.

Then I made 2 more that I thought would fit, but they were too big too!

So, I took a clue from one of the other quilts and changed the block completely
and cut it off to fit. Problem solved!
This was a fun block to do. Tin man. (what I always feel like in yoga class!)

Here it is waiting for some sewing room finagling.

Check out Karen's blog to see her great blocks!

Look how great this block looks! I didn't have to make it but was only asked to sign it.

Thanks Ann for the bonus! These will fit wonderfully in my ABC sampler!

Friday we will have the reveal and  linky party for our "Year of the Rooster" challenge!!

Fall Festival Month 3

Here are my baskets and pineapples for the month.
I have a lot more flying geese to make, but I didn't say we needed to make them all this month.

Here are Denise's. She is having hand surgery so she was being an overachiever! LOL
 Denise's pineapples.
 Debby D's blocks
 More of Debby D's blocks.
Oh yea, Mona was an overachiever too! LOL (love your flooring!)
More of Mona's blocks.

Nice work ladies! I love them all!

Our next assignment will be easy!

Make the house block and more flying geese blocks. We will check back in 2 weeks! (April 17th)

ABC Sampler

Here's our next 2 blocks of the ABC Sampler of Cheri's. Every time I get ready to share our blocks and write a blog post I think  of the song, ABC, 123 by the Jackson 5. This video is only 1 minute and if you haven't seen the Jackson 5 in many years it's worth a look! LOL

N-O-P in one ingenious block!

I'm not thrilled with Santa's face as I resorted to machine applique on the smaller pieces.

When put together as a whole quilt, he will be just fine!

Take a look at Karen's blocks HERE.

Have a wonderful week!

Fall Festival Month 2- Photo Heavy

We had a big assignment for the second month of Fall Festival. The turkey was optional, so that is fine if it isn't complete. Just keep working on it for next month's show and tell.
I'll probably loose a few points on my stars, but they are done!

Whew!
Here are Debby D's blocks.
I'm adoring the turkey fabric.

 Here is Rina's block 1
Here are Denise's moons from last month and the rest for this month.

Denise's

 Mona's great blocks!
I didn't want to tell her that I don't see the flag. :)

Next month's assignment:

 3 Pineapples 12 1/2 x 8 1/2
                                                               2 square baskets 12 1/2"

 and 1 tall basket 18 1/2x 8 1/2

And if you have time,  make a few flying geese (finish at 4x2") for the sashing so they will not all be left at the end. Next show and tell April 3rd!

Have a wonderful week!
