Yes Sir, Yes Sir, Three Bags Full

It seems everyone is working on Christmas things already so I thought I'd jump on the wagon.

Twelve Days of Christmas by Cheri. This one just needs to be basted and quilted. I think it looks a little heavy on one side. I'm hoping to quilt a few things on the "empty "side and fill 'er up.

Wool Crazy by JoAnn Mullaly. I hope to get this second square done this fall/winter.

We went camping this weekend to Mt Hood. It is hard for us to get away and the only time you can count on a camping site is after school is back in session. It was cold but such a pretty day on Saturday.

Our kids came up and we celebrated my son's 25th birthday. I'd like to know how my baby got to be 25!? LOL

Wool Crazy

Here's what I got done on my Wool Crazy during my 4 days of handwork.

I'm planning on adding some buttons down the center and making a few more snowflakes.

Simple addition to the row houses.

A little autumn vignette.

My next rotation of handwork projects was quilting my Jane Stickle, but I did manage to get three quilt bindings on so I am going to start on them tonight!! Woo-Hoo that means 3 quilts almost done!!

Wool Crazy

Here is my latest handiwork project. It feels great to be working with wool again!!

I like to add my applique pieces and then do the embellishing.

This is my fall and winter square. Although you may not be able to tell right now what some of this is supposed to be, hopefully it won't be too long until it will look familiar.

So after feeling like I needed an extra hand or two or three, I decided to rotate my hand work projects. Basically, I have Wool Crazy, Beyond the Cherry Tree applique, hand quilting my Jane Stickle quilt, then misc...mostly consisting of hand quilting small projects. I figured three or four days for each project should let me enjoy each one of them. I'm not in any hurry to finish, but love them all and want to work on all at the same time!

My other plan is to always have an applique block ready to take with me. It seems to be the most portable project.

I Need More Hands

I have several hand work projects and can't find a balance to get to them all. I'd love to know how you decide which hand projects to work on. Do you work on one a week? Or just work on it until you get to a certain place?

My poor Jane Stickle quilt languishing in the closet. I have the center and about 1/2 of one side of the triangles quilted. A good winter project, for sure.

My lovely wool crazy that hasn't been touched for awhile.

This is one of three little quilts that I want to hand quilt. I'll probably do a little machine work and hand on this one. It's all basted and ready to go!

Hand applique Beyond the Cherry Tree. It is slow going for me. It's small and portable so that's good.  I'm already behind and want to keep going on this, but not at the expense of the other projects. I put in about 2 hours a day in the evening working on hand projects.

Any great tips or ideas?

Wool Crazy & Cotton Boll

A few weeks ago I started on block 2 of my Wool Crazy by JoAnn. I like to add my applique pieces then do the decorative stitching. I'm just getting started but I sure do enjoy it. This block will be all about fall and winter.

Here is my completed mystery quilt step 1 of Bonnie Hunter's. And I only made 3 strips wrong! I'll be keeping them as I have a hunch I may need them for another step. If not, I'll toss them into the scrap bin.

I am hosting 15 for Thanksgiving dinner, which for me, is an army!! You all have a wonderful week.

Little Distractions

As much as I've tried to stay focused on getting a few UFO's done, I couldn't help myself from a couple of little projects.

I'm calling this one Dixieland. Dixie made the little block with the cutout and I couldn't resist doing a couple of more applique blocks. I tried adding an additional border but it wasn't working at all, so I'm going to leave this one "as is". Thanks again Dixie!!

Here's a little quilt I made from the Provence scraps Valentina sent to me. All of still smells heavenly from the lavender she sent with it. I'm calling it Provence through Cyprus.Thank you Valentina!! I only had to add two squares on my own fabric. Can you spot them?

And here's what I did with my Wool Crazy Round Robin. I won't be putting any pins in it, but I found this frame that worked perfectly!! I have it hanging next to an old bright red child's swimsuit. It fits the summer theme perfect. Thanks again ladies!!

Wool Crazy Round Robin

My wool crazy round robin made it back home to Oregon this week!! I'm excited to put a few stitches in it and finish it up. I will treasure this for many years!!

This is how my block looked when I sent it to Kaaren at the Painted Quilt. Very plain, very boring..... My theme was summer.

Ah, that's starting to take on a little bit more life. Who doesn't love watermelon in the summer?! Kaaren continued to add charm by adding the chicken and the gorgeous flowers.

Kaaren then sent it to Karen at Log Cabin Quilter. She added the adorable sheep with the flag blanket. Love it!!

Karen sent it on to Sweet P Paulette who added the house and tree under the flag. I'd like to think that is my house! It's a beauty!! Look at the picket fence.. I don't think it will keep the deer out, but it sure looks quaint!! Paulette had the RR over the Canadian Thanksgiving and couldn't resist adding a bit more since she couldn't send it off right away. That little bee? It's a tiny button buzzin' around the flowers and bee skep. Oh my! I couldn't be happier with the results of the work all the girls put into it!! Thank you so much ladies!!!
I have an idea of how I want to finish it, but I'll need a little time to figure it out. I'm hoping to post it again soon, but in the DONE state!!

I also want to show you a couple things the mailman brought me within the past week.

JulieKQuilts sent me these wonderful festive Moda strips!!  They are actually folded over in the photo. There's plenty here to make something, but for now I am just enjoying looking at them!! Thank you Julie!

Dixie has some wonderful black eyed Susan flowers in her header and was asking if anyone would like some seeds. Of course, I raised my hand high!! Not only did she send the seeds she sent this wonderful little basket block. I can see this worked into a little doll quilt at some point in my sewing. Thank you Dixie! It is adorable!! (BTW, I sure hope my seeds end up looking like your flowers!)

So much for getting to sew so far this week. My son is working a part time job at the college he just graduated from and they needed his license. They informed him it had expired a couple of weeks ago on his birthday! Oops!! I made a quick 3 hour drive to meet him with his passport so he could get his license renewed.

Today I'm heading the same direction to watch my niece's volleyball game. Yes, I'm biased, but her shirt doesn't say number 1 for nothing! She rocks!!

Baker's Star and More...

Do you remember seeing another one of these? Libby sent me two vintage stars all assembled and I appliqued them. You can read about the process here. This one I actually appliqued on wrong but if I remember right Ann Champion mentioned this one looks more like a flower and the other was more like a star. I sent Libby a finished little quilt and I like the idea that I will have one and she will have one.

I used a piece of fabric that looks like a vintage tablecloth for the backing.

Anybody else sensing a pumpkin theme with the Wool Crazy round robins? This time I put a little kitty inside. And look, there's my acorns!



There's room for Kaaren to add a bit of stitching. I can't wait to see it all finished.



I received the cutest scissor fob from Darlene. It's hard to see on the black countertop but it is adorable. I love the little card her hubby designed too. Thanks Darlene.

I'm all current on my Soot and Ashes blocks. I think the last three will be applique.

I received the Sunshine Award from Emily. I think I'm supposed to name so many blogs, but how can I choose just a few from so many wonderful ones? I would like to mention Karen Dianne at Lee Haven. She makes fun of my typing and makes me crack up all the time. You are all an inspiration and you've brought a lot of sunshine into my life.

Wool Crazy Round Robin

I received Karen's Wool Crazy yesterday from Paulette and made my addition last night. My crow looks a little primitive, but I know Karen will appreciate it! LOL

No pumpkins in sight so I thought I'd better add one since the theme was fall. It's off to Kaaren today!!

And I'm outta here until late Sunday night. My trip includes a quilt show and Civil War battlefields!

Wool Crazy...Soot & Ashes

Here is my pumpkin patch addition to Paulette's Wool Crazy Mini. I hardly hesitated to say yes when Kaaren asked if I'd like to be involved, but I have to say I was very intimidated after seeing Paulette's start! Her theme is the four seasons and I think I made my season pretty obvious. Karen is also joining in so check out the other Wool Crazy round robins.

Cheri Payne has started a blog! She has given the directions for these cute little blocks. She's calling it Soot & Ashes and they finish at 5". How could I resist?! The upper right hand block has issues- like some missing points!! Not sure what I did there, but I'm leaving it. I've loved Cheri's primitive style quilts so I'm happy she has jumped into blogging and I'm looking forward to learning more about her.

Wool Crazy- Block One DONE!!

Here is my first block of Wool Crazy. When I got the book it looked to me like JoAnn did two blocks spring and summer and two blocks winter and fall. I liked that idea and started with the spring/summer.

This is probably the plainest block of them all and may have to add a few ladybugs or bees down the line.

I saw another bunny chasing a clover and thought that was so cute. I hope the maker doesn't mind I copied her idea.

I still need to add some buttons to the little patchwork quilt

I'm hoping to get the next block foundation prepped within the next couple of weeks. This is so much fun to work on. It seems like I'm figuring the stitches out OK and overall it doesn't seem to matter too much anyway.

I'm off for a work weekend at my dad and stepmoms. They are trying to get their house ready to sell so they can be closer to family. I hope the weather holds!!
