Jane Stickle Quilt

I didn't think I really needed too many photos as many of you have seen this quilt. Done similar to Jane's and they pretty much look a lot alike. I do have a question. So it really doesn't take me another 10 years to get it quilted do you have any recommendations on how to quilt the plain triangles?

Janet convinced me to take a close up of the quilting. Maybe it will make beginners not feel too bad. I am quiltig each block as I get to it. I don't and never did (and never do) have a plan when I quilt. Once in a while I'll use a stencil, but not on anything like this. I'm not a very good photographer, but here it is.

  1. Your quilt is beautiful! It really does look very much like the original.
I have two ideas for the plain triangles on the border. One would be to quilt a series of triangles inside of each other. You know, big, medium, and small. I don't know how big the triangles are, so two might be enough. My other thought would be to quilt a series of diagonal lines that follow the angle of the triangle. Just one direction of lines.

  3. Thank you for sharing this and your hand quilting is going to make the quilt so soft and cuddly. I like to make up the quilting as I go too. The quilt is gorgeous!

  4. Gorgeous! I haven't even attempted this one but I think what Karen said would look good - or you could do some of each, diagonals and triangles. They don't all have to be the same. I'm sure you'll make it beautiful!

  5. I love your Jane Stickle Quilt...I've made one and am working on my second one right now! I found that I missed those precious little blocks when I was finished with the first one.

My plain triangles are quilted with triangles inside of triangles about 1/2" apart.

  6. Your Jane quilt is gorgeous! Many of the ones I've seen have quilted echo lines of the triangle about 1/2" apart.

  7. Your DJ is lovely,it really does look like Jane's quilt!
I'm doing one at present, but in the quilt-as-you-go method...
I just make up the quilting as I go and where I think it needs it...
