Birthday Blocks

Here's a closer look at the awesome table runner Sharon made for me. She will be 50 next month!!

I had several people who asked to see the blocks all spread out. So far there are 87!!  I think you should be able to click on the photo to enlarge.

Thank you again!! This is also going to be called my Jubilee quilt.

I decided to have a celebration of some sort every month that I am 50. I'm already looking forward to June!! Jill and Susan are you ready for me?

  2. Nice blocks. I was worried when I saw the first picture and no signatures, I'm thinking oh no I signed mine. Then I saw signatures on blocks in the other pictures, feel better now. Your quilt is going to be so nice.

  12. What a stash oʻblocks! Plus autographs!

I was walking up the hill to view the sunset, and the lightbulb went off! CW repros. Got it! Then I came home to your email for confirmation.

I suspect the CW motif/flavor will be a challenge in these parts. Brights and very brights are the more common fare.

    Happy jubilee!

  16. I like your idea of celebrating every month! Your blocks are great! I'll get mine in the mail to you soon. I remember when I had my 50th, we were visiting our son who was in Wisconsin at the time with my parents & sister. We went out to eat several times and every place we went, my sister told them it was my 50th birthday so I would get the birthday cake! Might as well celebrate!

  31. Reading quilting magazine's was like eating chocolate. Not only was it me time, it was enjoying the flavor, reading everything from cover to cover. I still have some of my old copies from the 1990-2000. They all had that extra dimension. Not all the same looking quilts, each one unique and different. Quilters Newsletter magazine did the eye candy "Heritage Medallion" quilt, McCalls Quilting the "Grandma's Country Album" series, Better Homes and Gardens had Thimbleberries, homespuns, the butterfly quilt. To name but a few. We did not have Fabric companies controlling and dictating strips, squares, with which to quilt with. We had to learn how to cut and do, the element of the challenge was there. Jinny Beyer was inspiring to quilting, like so many others. Now everyone wants it on a platter, the fabric did not follow a journey to be produced, they turn them out like fast food, how many of these lines have no appeal, but we are suppose to get excited about them? The advertisements in the magazines was fun, you learnt about products, gadgets and fabrics. I remember seeing an ad for this gadget by thethimblelady.au, that ad stuck, recently a fellow quilter wished for some invention to be invented. I came home, looked through all my quilt magazines and passed on the information. In Japan one cannot just say I am a quilter, they go to university to learn how to be a quilter. No wonder they turn out creations that make us drool. If I could I would go to one quilt show, the one in Japan in November, for one reason only, to feed my inspiration on a level that it wants to be fed, not at one that is not even close. Food for thought, I think.....
