Christmas in July
I got the final stitches on the binding last night. I pieced this top in July 2009 and after finding the border fabric I was hoping to have it done before Christmas 2009.....Oh well, It's ready when the holidays roll around again!
The friendship star blocks were from a long ago swap and the nine patches were leftovers.
It doesn't have any Christmas fabric in it but the border stripes reminded me of candy canes.

I love the quilt. Isn't it amazing how the same block can be so different with different fabrics?
ReplyDeleteVery cute how big is it? It looks like it would be a nice decoration for your home
ReplyDeleteIt will make a wonderful Christmas quilt/wall hanging/table topper! I love basic blocks and alternating with the red makes them pop!
ReplyDeleteLooks great! I still love the stripes.
ReplyDeleteVery sweet! Simple and charming. Did you hand quilt it?
ReplyDeleteVery sweet. And not BLATANTLY Christmas.

I love the red! Nice job!
ReplyDeleteI think you found the perfect border fabric? I love the red setting squares!
ReplyDeleteDon't tell anybody you're late with this goal..tell them it's an early quilt for next Christmas? ;)
Congratulations on your early/late finish. I like that you used left over blocks to make the quilt and you know I like it.
ReplyDeleteGreat quilt, Lori - love the different reds, and the border fabric. The different blocks really keep your eye moving.
ReplyDeleteWell I love it. The fabrics look great.
ReplyDeleteYou are going to be so happy this Christmas when you pull this beauty out and cuddle up in it. I just love it, Lori.
ReplyDeleteLori, What a great quilt! The border fabric is fabulous. Who made the fabric and what is it called? How big is the quilt? I enjoy decorating with quilts that just have Christmas colors, not Christmas prints. That quilt will also look great around the 4th of July. Of course, I've never met a red that I didn't like.
ReplyDeleteIt's gorgeous, I love red as you know and I have to do a quilt with a red background. I was thinking of my nine patch swap blocks. Just have to find the right red.
ReplyDeleteOh yes...WOW...I.LIKE.

ReplyDeleteSuch a sweet quilt. If you say it's a Christmas quilt, then that's exactly what it is. It doesn't have to have holly leaves and Santa Claus--it has a lovely warm, comfortable, wintery look.
ReplyDeleteLove the quilt. Anything with red in it can be for Christmas!
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet little quilt!
