Mish Mash...

I've been working on a few things but not much picture worthy yet...except this block which has 36- 1" half square triangles and 44- 1 1/4" half square triangles. I may end up changing the center 4 patch but don't think I'll have too much trouble unpicking it and replacing it.
I received my Downy quilts for kids kit and am starting on that today. It was all precut and nicely packaged. I can't imagine it taking me too long to assemble.

Marge, who is on no reply the Christmas in July quilt measures 63" square. (approx as my quilts go!) The striped border fabric is Chateax Rococo by Robyn Pandolph.

Susan R: I do not own the Cheddar cheese and Cracker quilt so I can't tell you what the measurements are on the original quilt. I did offer up a few different sizes for anybody that wanted to make it larger which you can find here.

Speaking of quiltalongs I am curious to know what you all may want to do. I thought the doll size worked out really well. Do you want a complicated pattern or maybe just something that would be fun without a lot of work? Reproduction of an old quilt or a scaled down version of a larger quilt? I've been keeping my eyes open for another project but it may be helpful for me if you tell me what you'd like. Please leave any ideas in the comment section.

  3. My goodness, Lori. I have to play catch-up in reading your blog. I've missed a few posts.

This is one multi-pieced blocked, wholly cow!!! OH my word, did it take you a long time?

  4. I would like a scaled down version of an antique quilt.

You did a good piecing work on your big block. It has about a million triangles. Well, maybe a few less. Looks good to me the way it is.

  6. I loved making Cheddar & cheese(in the larger size). I love the quilt. I'm sitting with it wrapped around me right now.

I would love to make another reproduction. I like a wall hanging size better than doll quilt size but the doll quilt is faster.

  7. I absolutely LOVED making my cheddar cheese and crackers with you. Thank you, again. I'd like something similar and DEFINITELY scrappy. This is SOOO EXCITING!

  9. The block is beautiful Lori! I just loved the CC&C because it wasn't a simple one and especially because it was a mini version of a real dinkum antique quilt. I'd love to see another like it. So a scaled down version would be my choice.

  11. Like mish mash, but maybe the centre blocks could be smaller. would like to do a sew along with you. it will be my first. Wall hanging size or doll quilt. A reproduction of an antique would me nice. You have great taste so am sure anything you choose will be great.

  12. Love your block. Lots of piecing in it! I would love to do another doll sized quilt, as it was great to use fabric from my stash.

  13. I say Leave the center - how many blocks have you made so far? I always like a "dog" or a "humble" block or is it that you've decided on a different color scheme.
I did a 4-patch swap thing with Jill and I wanted all mixed up ones, and she wanted matched. I used both in the final quilt and I love it.
I don't have a vote because I'm easy on a quilt a long - but doll quilts are my favorite thing.

  15. Great post! I love love love your block. I'm glad I've already been distracted over coffee this morning so I can't be taking off again. Love the fabrics in this block by the way. You're so GOOD at that!

I'd like a scaled down version of an antique quilt myself. Something not to painfully difficult I guess. Although that's a rude standard, isn't it?!

  16. I have not made it to your cheddar quilt so I really do not have any suggestions at this time. The blokc is cute, I do like it. I wonder what it would look like in 1930s?

  17. Nifty block. I think the 4-patch in the center is fine. Are you making more of them for a quilt?
As for another project, i loved the size of the Cheddar.

  19. I really like your mish mash - all those hst's are marvelous.
I'm so happy that you are thinking about doing another quilt-a-long. I loved making CC&C - I liked that it was challenging and it was so fun to make along with everyone else. I vote for reproducing another antique quilt. :0)

  20. I think that it would be fun to do a repo of a antique for a quilt along.

  21. I love your mish-mash block! All of those triangles make it so fun.

I'd love to do another quilt along. My vote would be for a smaller scale repro of an antique. :)

  22. i think the oversized center four patch is charming~!~

i kinda came in when the cheddar cheese and crackers was already started so i haven't yet made it but i do hope to at some point.

if you did another quilt a long i would certainly be interested.
my first thoughts are doll quilt size (as that is a favorite and quick to finish), antique reproduction and simple . . . but i will love seeing what you come up with as everything you do is wonderful~!!~

  23. Another scrappy, reproduction, antique look doll quilt would be great! It just works up faster especially if I plan to hand quilt it.

  24. I love your block - lotsa little pieces. It would make a nice doll quilt just as it is, I think.
Count me in if you do another quilt along. I would like to see a repeat idea of the CC&C - a scaled down antique quilt in doll or crib size.

  25. Love your quilt!! I loved the Cheddar quilt...I think something fun and not too difficult would draw more people, maybe. Old fashioned charm is best!!

  26. A doll or small wallhanging size, one that can be finished quickly, is my preference. I'm in the middle of so many things, and that size is appealing.
I guess I'd most like to see a version of a repro quilt, either 1800s or 1930s.

  27. I vote for a scaled-down version of an antique quilt just like CC&C, either doll-size or wall-hanging. Everything you make is appealing and don't rip out!
