Northwest Quilters Guild Show

I made a quick trip to Portland yesterday for the Northwest Quilters Guild annual quilt show. This was my first time attending this show and if I had known what I know now I wouldn't have traveled through the snow and pouring rain 2 hours to get there. But, even though the quilts weren't exactly my cuppa tea I can always appreciate the work that goes into them.

This one was bright and interesting. Each of the triangles are pieced!! She used great sashing fabric too!

Check that out!

The detail in this eagle was amazing!!

I love scrap quilts but this one didn't particularly stir me, until I saw the hand quilting.

Beautiful!! And brave to do it in black!!

Another one I wasn't enamoured with but the thing was huge and the tag said she machine quilted it on her Bernina!! Holy cow! I'd like to see how she wrestled that!!!

  1. I'm always inspired by quilts, even if they aren't my own style. That's the great thing about this art form, huh?

that eagle is amazing, do you have a close up of it?
I love the quilting on that quilt too.
One of my challenges for myself this year is to quilt a little quilt in black thread.

  10. My oh my. What beautiful photos you bring back to share. I really love that hand quilting. I'm really taken with that first quilt though. It's stunning. Amazing work went into that but of course as I write this I'm reflecting and thinking the quilt done on the Bernina - whew. That deserved ribbons!

  12. This is off topic - back to your Cheddar Cheese and Crackers quilt. I finished mine last night, and I just wanted to say thank you for the directions and the links to all the others who finished in a much more timely fashion. I really had a good time making mine. I have a picture of it on my blog and a couple in my flickr pictures.

  13. Fantastic quilts to share with us. That first one with the diamonds is outstanding. Interesting how the B/W fabrics create such dramatic separation of the sections.

As always, thanks for sharing photos of shows you visit. Can't have too much inspiration.
