Beyond the Cherry Tree Quilt Block update

I do not have a large design wall so nine at a time will have to do.  The top left block looks huge! LOL

They are a little quirky and that is why I love them so much.

Individually the blocks aren't that special. But all together I think they are wonderful!

Here are the three latest blocks.

I had been planning on attending a quilt show this weekend but with the price of gas going crazy I wasn't too keen on driving 160 miles one way. If any of you are near Salem, Oregon there is a quilt show in Rickreall.
Have a great weekend!

  1. You have put a lot of beautiful work into your appliques. It is a gorgeous piece. I spent the day learning the hard way and making messes, lol.

  2. Lori, your BTCT is fabulous. Seeing all your blocks together makes me want to do nothing but work on mine. I'm out of town for the next week so I'm taking some projects with me, this will be one of them. I love the stripe you have used.

  7. Your Cherry Tree blocks are wonderful! Are you planning on making all the blocks? Makes a pretty big quilt.

I think most of us are rethinking traveling distances by car with the price of gas. Guess it is a way to force us to use less. But I do like seeing pictures from quilt shows you attend.

  10. They might be a little quirky but they have tons of charisma!! Gorgeous stuff -- and in my favorite reds, greens and golds. I hadn't allowed myself to covet this pattern, but after seeing yours...LOL You are a bad influence!! :-D I love the striped leaves; they look like Susan McCord. Sigh. How can I resist?

  31. Oh, I just love your blocks - so classic, and, as you said, quirky! That is what is great about applique of the past, I think. Love the use of striped green fabric in the wreath - last pic!

  34. I love it when everyone posts their first nine blocks! Yours are so wonderful. The use of the stripes in the leaves really gives some movement to the piece. When doing Block #2 I also thought it looked "heavy" but as we complete more we can keep that in mind and it will all balance out in the end.
My favorite greenhouse is a 2 1/2 hour drive also and will probably not be visited this season...sigh...

  39. Your blocks are gorgeous! I tell ya,...gas prices are killer and especially for my commuter husband. I'm afraid to see our next gas charges bill. It is a shame that so many are giving up travel this weekend. I hope yours turns out to be a good one. Happy Easter.
