I've actually been at the sewing machine a little every day trying to get this together. I finished the flying geese sashing yesterday and started assembling the top today. Here's the top half of the quilt....
And the bottom half. The right and left borders will have the same color flying geese. I have the pink picked out but that's it. I'm excited to get this far!!
I wanted to get most of that top together so I could start on a red and white quilt project. I've got my fabric and finally chose a pattern. The hard part is done! Piecing a 2 color quilt with 2 fabrics will be boring sewing so keep spurring me on OK? I'll let you know when I start.
I love the Blind Man's Fancy quilt. It is going to be so beautiful. Can't wait to see what pattern you picked up for the red and white quilt. Have a great weekend and 4th of July. Hugs
ReplyDeleteLori, it is just gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful piecing on your Blind Man's Fancy quilt - and lots of it!
ReplyDeleteI'm going to make a 2 colored quilt too. What block are you going to use? Maybe I should go get the fabric and sew along with you.....
It looks fantastic! I may have to copy you. Because as you know copying is the best form of flattery.
ReplyDeleteAwesome!!
ReplyDeleteLove the quilt!!! When I finish a couple of projects, I'm going to start one!!!
ReplyDeleteHave a blessed 4th of July!!
Oh, Lori, this is GORGEOUS! Very antique looking. It will be difficult to go from this to a two color quilt! I'll cheer you on!
ReplyDeleteYour quilt is absolutely awesome. I love all those flying geese...if you can do all those, you should have no trouble sticking with a red and white quilt.
ReplyDeleteYour BM Fancy is amazing! What pattern are you using with your red and white? Did you see the cover of Country Living? A great R&W graces the cover this month. I'm not quite ready, but maybe I"ll sew along with you. I've got a bolt of each to work with ;-)
ReplyDeleteA wonderful quilt. I like flying geese and I like it all together.

ReplyDeleteFabulous!
ReplyDeleteOh you are working on Blind Man's Fancy. You started this some time ago, didn't you? And I like it.
ReplyDeleteI like your new header too.
The Blind Man's Fancy quilt looks great - so many little pieces!! Can't wait to see what you come up with for the red/white quilt.
ReplyDeleteThis is going to be one dynamic quilt, and I am curious to see what your red and white will be!
ReplyDeleteGORGEOUS Blind Man, Lori. Just gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteI adore this quilt -- the scrappiness and all the triangles and the colors! It's a great pattern, and your interpretation is wonderful (and your piecing is so perfect).
ReplyDeleteI bet it's going to be fun to move from this scrappy pattern to a two-color quilt. I've always been afraid I'd be bored with two colors, but maybe I'll just try a doll quilt.
What I love the most about this quilt is the way different elements of the block come to the fore in each block depending on the colours you have used. Fantastic quilt.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the two coloured quilt - was very drawn to those with all the posts from the exhibition - I'll certainly cheer you on!
Love those blocks!
ReplyDeleteOh wow...this is going to be a great quilt!
ReplyDeleteIt's going to be a lovely srap quilt. You have a lot of patience!
ReplyDeleteThis is going to be a beauty! Love the scrappyness of it. Gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteLori,
ReplyDeleteThese blocks look amazing! It makes me want to start a traditional something.. I have not done that in a long time!
OH, that is an awesome quilt!! You almost have that top in the bag...go girl go!! I really enjoy the flying geese sashing...wonderful!
ReplyDeleteBlind man's fancy is on my to do list. Love how yours is coming along.
ReplyDeleteYou can do it with the R&W! - just work on another project at the same times so you don't go batty! lol
Your quilt is amazing!! What a fabulous block and I love your sense of colour!!! Thanks for the teaser of the red and white quilt, something for us to look forward to.

Goodness - all those flying geese, but the quilt is fantastic.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see what you pick for a red and white quilt. I just love that color combination.
Oh, I love it! All those flying geese...it looks like your making great progress!
ReplyDeleteWhat perfect geese. The colors are so pretty. We will keep you going on the red and white quilt!
ReplyDeleteBlind Man's Fancy is a gorgeous quilt for sure and pretty intense too! Wonder how the quilt got that name?
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see the pattern you chose for the red & white, deciding on the pattern is half the battle won!
I LOVE your Blindman's Fancy quilt so far!!
ReplyDeleteMy guild is doing a red and white challenge this year so I'll be making one too. I'm going to pick a difficult block to try to keep it interesting :0) Scrappy red and white would probably be more fun but look less traditional... I think there'll be lots of red and white quilts made this year.
Your Blind Man's Fancy is gorgeous! Love it!
ReplyDeleteOh YES,,,anything with flying geese will win me over everytime!! This is going to be wonderful!!
ReplyDeleteLove the complexity of this quilt...so many interesting facets to it and all those wonderful colors. Know what you mean about the 2 colored quilt too as I am in the midst of one now & one of the two colors is turning out too pale.
ReplyDeleteYou won't have that with the red and white - it will be so striking!
LOVE LOVE LOVE .
ReplyDeleteXO
Oh Lori,(gasp)I absolutely LOVE this.! I mean I LOVE it. I think more than anything else you've ever done. Which is saying a lot, but I'm sure I'm not done saying it. :) I will be studying the fabrics more this weekend. Thank you so much for showing this.

ReplyDeleteThis will be a beautiful quilt when it's finished! Which pattern will you use for the red and white?
ReplyDeleteThese are beautiful! I love how they are coming together.
ReplyDeleteSorry, I had to pick up my jaw off the keyboard first before I could comment! Your new quilt in progress is fabulous!!! I'm sure the red/whit will be too. You go girl!
ReplyDeleteA stunning quilt ~ every bit of it!
ReplyDeleteHard to imagine that a 2-color quilt follows in the wake of this dazzler.
Your AAQI offering is a delight too.
OMG - your blind man's fancy is so fabulous! Can't wait to see your red and white project. Boring? Maybe, but the graphic appeal of the two color quilts is so fantastic!
ReplyDeleteOh wow
ReplyDeleteI just love everything about the blind man's fancy. Well done Lori. Is this a pattern of your own devising or can I buy one from somewhere. I would love to do that. Do you know where the name came from?
Can't wait to see what you do with it next.
Wow, are you counting all those itty bitty pieces as you go? They all add up to a terrific quilt!
ReplyDeleteTwo color quilts are so classic--I'm sure you can just picture in your mind all those wonderful ones from the NYC show as you stitch your own.
Gorgeous Lori!
ReplyDeleteI'm going to be doing a red and white quilt too, but haven't chosen a pattern. Can't wait to see what you are going to do!
Oh wow! It is absolutely beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI love your Blind Man's Fancy quilt! It is going to be such a beauty!

Your Blind Man's fancy is wonderful. Do you have a pattern? What is it? I am thinking this quilt needs to be made at my house.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fab quilt so far. Can't wait to see the full top. Bravo!!
ReplyDeletelove the blind man's fancy. Two color quilts are a challenge--they are boring when what you really want to do is add all kinds of fabric together!
