AAQI are hoarding quilts for Houston and want to arrive with 1500 quilts for sale. Here are my 2 contributions...for now.

Why did I keep that tiny piece that is not even 1/2" wide? LOL
Have a lovely Wednesday!!
I love your 2 AAQI quilts. I just sent in one and am trying to decide what to do next.
ReplyDeleteI was going through my scraps and came across the same small pieces. What compels us to save these...lol
Hope your shoulder is better.
Hugs
I do love you do 2 at once, how it appeals to that 2 sided personality of a quilter, loving tradition, and modern fabrics and creativity ~
ReplyDelete:-}pokey
beautiful blocks, great fabric choices for both.
ReplyDeleteyou must be getting excited about your trip!
Have fun and hope the shoulder is feeling better

Always good to have too much rather than to little to keep your hands busy :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the update on the AAQI - I have one to mail but will work on making another to go along.
These are going to be beautiful! I am finally at the age where I can bear to throw away those little pieces - I don't have enough years left to use them all :).
ReplyDeleteLove those AAQI flowers. Maybe they hope you will get stuck at sea, so the quilts will finish soon, but I hope you will just have a great and incredible trip without any troubles! Enjoy yourself!
ReplyDeleteStuck at sea??? I've been gone for far too long, but I do love the little AAQI quilts.
ReplyDeleteI save tons of itty bitty pieces, but I'm gonna start throwing them away, I think.
I love the blocks--all of them. Though I am typically a "traditional" type, I love that modern one, too. Now just don't accidently get them done before you leave!
ReplyDeleteAs to the tiny scrap--maybe your subconscious is planning to make a dog bed. : )
Enjoy the cruise!!!!!
Beautiful fabric choices, Lori!
ReplyDeleteI was hoping the hurricane would not ruin your trip. Getting seasick from rough waters would not be much fun. You probably will be having so much fun that you won't get any stitching done.
ReplyDeleteWhat a cool old block to inspire you. Your versions are both great! Hand applique can be so relaxing. Here's to a safe and fun journey!
ReplyDeleteThose are wonderful pieces, love that flower design.
ReplyDeleteI sure hope the weather doesn't ruin the trip.
Debbie
You'll be having so much fun with Bonnie on the cruise you won't notice any Hurricane, right? Travel Safe, we are sitting here waiting for you both to post so we can 'live vicariously' through you.
ReplyDeleteThat tiny piece is for a book mark. Very portable those tiny pieces - LOL.
ReplyDeleteI like those blocks. Not sure that one is better than the other. They are all gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI always run out of applique when I go on holidays - I need to learn to prep more :0) I love these flowers - I have a picture of this antique quilt as my background on my computer - I love the way it is quilted so much and with so much variety. Both of your little quilts will be wonderful!!
ReplyDeleteYou kep that tiny piece of fabric because you hang out with Bonnie and she's rubbing off on you!! LOL Hope your trip is wonderful (and hurricane free!). And love, love your AAQI quilts. Beautiful, as usual!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Mary Lou
We quilters have never met a scrap we haven't liked, right? I completely understand how a tiny piece like that gets saved.
ReplyDeleteRough waters at sea - sure hope you all will be free of any turbulence. It'd be hard to stitch if you're seasick!
Bon Voyage!
Oh...they are fabulous! I was reading thier blog and - WOW 1,500 won't that make an impact.
ReplyDeleteIt is a great inspiration block and I like how you rendered it two different ways. Both are great! Are you going to Houston? I am hopeful I will make it this year but not positive yet.
ReplyDeleteCounting down the hours!! If all else fails, could I interest you in some ....HEXAGONS?! LOL!!!
ReplyDeleteWonderful interpretations of the antique block. You're so very wise to appeal to both the traditional and the modern preferences.
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a smooth, enjoyable, nondramatic voyage, with no need for Dramamine. Happy stitching! Happy cruising!
I am so excited for you - a cruise, where are you cruising to?
ReplyDeleteI would leave the quilting at home and enjoy the water, I love the ocean! Your pieces are wonderful but I bet you will have them done before you leave - Have fun!!
I have a hard time throwing away fabric too at times. Lol. Have a wonderful time on your cruise!
ReplyDeleteStay safe, Lori and enjoy your cruise.
ReplyDeleteI love both your flowers!
Both blocks are great but I am partial to the one in repros. I just don't have any more room for scraps but pieces like that are kept by some. I hope you have a wonderful trip!
ReplyDeleteHave a fantastic time. Travel safe.
ReplyDeleteOh I love your contributions. I always smile when a quilter uses a traditional piece and works it into something with new flair. I completely dig that, Lori!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun and funky flower - I hope Irene doesn't impact your trip. where are you sailing out of?
ReplyDeleteYou saved it for stems, skinny little stems - of course!
ReplyDeleteI love those applique blocks! The fabrics in the "traditional" block are just perfect
ReplyDeleteHave a great trip!
Tim
Love Love the little AAQI quilts Lori!
ReplyDeleteHey....that little strip is what I consider a 'string'! That is the beginning size in my fabric scrap food chain!! HA! No seriously!!
love those Lori! that little piece wanted to be something when it grew up!
ReplyDeleteThe applique blocks are going to be great! Love your colors and hope you have a wonderful, safe trip.
ReplyDeleteboth of thise are going to be wonderful~!!~
