Weekend

My weekend started out awesome but took a turn for the worse when my mom fell yesterday and fractured her shoulder. She is at home and I expected her to be doing better then she is by now. I spent the night last night and even grabbed some stitching-didn't touch it at all. I'd appreciate prayers for her to turn the corner and for strength and wisdom for me.

I was going to post a photo of my hand project but haven't figured out how to do that with my iPhone.

snip snip.....later........

Hurrah, My brother is covering at the house for me so I could come home and take a shower and get ready to sepdn the night again. I went running yesterday morning and never did get a shower! Yikes!!

Here is the awseom project carrier I use. My dear friend Kat made it for me many years ago. Maybe tonight I'll get a chance to sew.

  1. Will definitely keep you and your mom in my prayers. Falls and fractures are so challenging! I will certainly hope her pain can be controlled and that you will get lots of help in caring for her.

  6. Oh Lori -- I'm so sorry to hear about your mom. I know it's hard to see your Alzheimer's parent coping with an injury -- it reminded me of when my kids were sick when they were little.

It's wonderful that your brother is able to help. I don't know what I would have done without my sisters. I hope your mother is feeling better very soon. Please take care of yourself.

  18. Lori....Our Mom took a fall a few years ago...and is now the owner of some heavy duty metal in that shoulder. The first few days are definitely not fun! I'll be thinking of your mom and all of you as you help her through it!

  21. Will definitely keep your Mom, and you, in my prayers. My 81 year-old Mom fell and broke her arm just below the shoulder two weeks ago. It is a hard thing to go through for both the patient and the care givers.
Hope you can squeeze in some relaxing stitching time!

  22. Oh dear, that's so scary when our parents start getting frail. I pray that her recovery progresses and that you are able to get the rest you need in order to give her the care she needs. The role of caregiver can be daunting and rewarding and exhausting.

  23. Lori, terrible news. I hope your mum makes a speedy recovery. My mother in law also has dementia and had had a few falls and broken bones. All the more distressing when hey can't quite figure out what's happening. Make sure to take some time to look after yourself too!
